Conch on Folly Beach is a popular restaurant, but also has become a favorite spot for simply stopping in for a drink.
No doubt, being located at 11 Center Street, formerly the home of 11 Center Street Wine & Gourmet, has done wonders for Conch as it is a prime traffic area on Folly's most traveled strip. Whereas 11 Center Street Wine & Gourmet was more of an upscale restaurant that emphasized sauvignon, Conch's specialty seems to be seafood.
One friend said, "Conch is more Folly."
With a more laid back atmosphere and a seemingly Key West motif, I would have to agree. Conch is decidedly a beach restaurant/bar on one of the Lowcountry's most popular beaches. The margaritas seemed to be very popular with the ladies in my group on the night of our visit, which were enjoyed intermittently amongst the reasonably priced fish tacos and fried seafood baskets. On a nice evening, the open air dining area at Conch is a real treat, as a good mix of both locals and tourists seemed to enjoy the setting.
Only six months in the making, Conch seems to have made a good impression.
