Kids museum turning 5 years old

The Children's Museum of the Lowcountry is throwing a fifth birthday so big, they are taking two weekends to celebrate it.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, the celebration will kick off with a giant cake decorating party. Kids can paint and decorate a giant Styrofoam cake, which will then be put on display in the museum's lobby.

At 3 p.m. Sunday, the museum will throw an old-fashioned birthday party with cake, ice cream, party hats and favors in the CML Children's Garden.

The museum invites the public to be a part of the CML Parade of Friends On Sept. 27. Parade staging and a costume contest begin at 9 a.m. in the area in between the museum and the Visitor's Center bus shed. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. Families and children are encouraged to wear their silliest costumes, decorate their bikes, wagons and strollers. In addition to CML members and the public, parade attendees will also include CML founding families, community partners such as Boys & Girls club and local Girl Scout & Boy Scout troops. The parade is free to the public, and the parade-goer with the silliest costume will be knighted the parade's grand marshal and will win a CML family membership for a whole year!

Admission to all CML birthday events will be $5, the ticket price when CML opened in 2003. For more information, visit www.explorecml.org.
