Wednesday, September 17, 2008

ST. GEORGE — A fire that started in an upstairs bedroom displaced a family of five from their apartment Monday evening, firefighters said.

Crews that went to Cedarwood Apartments at 300 Reed St. at 7:05 p.m. were able to contain the flames to one unit, Capt. Rickie Jenkins said. The fire originated in an upstairs bedroom, though the exact cause was unknown.

Jenkins said the local American Red Cross chapter was helping the displaced mother and her four children with emergency needs.
