WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. — Zach MacDowall completed 17 of 26 passes for 233 yards, and a touchdown, to lead Coastal Carolina to its first win of the season — a victory over Monmouth.

The Chanticleers (1-2) dominated Monmouth on offense. Coastal Carolina had 416 offensive yards in the game, versus 267 yards for the Hawks (0-3).

In the opening drive, MacDowall completed a 34-yard pass to Trent Usher deep into Monmouth territory, close enough for Coastal Carolina kicker Justin Durham to make a 28-yard field goal.

Coastal's Marrio Norman intercepted Brett Burke on Monmouth's first drive, and after MacDowall completed a 42-yard pass to Jamar Anderson to the 2-yard line, running back Vince Starr busted into the end zone to give the Chanticleers a 10-0 lead.

In the second quarter, MacDowall had an 18-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Whitley.

The Chanticleers' Jamie Fordham ran 5 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
