Senate hopeful chastises Fowler
Republicans aren't the only ones with sharp words for South Carolina Democratic Party Chairwoman Carol Fowler. Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Bob Conley's campaign also issued a statement Thursday critical of her remark that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's "primary qualification seems to be that she hasn't had an abortion."
Fowler apologized for the remark Wednesday, as Republican leaders criticized her, and Conley piled on a day later.
"Such comments detract from the important issues at hand and are completely out of line," his statement said. "(Her) comments demonstrate that her concerns are not for women but are rather for pressing a far left ideology."
While Conley is seeking to unseat Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, Conley supported another Republican — U.S. Rep. Ron Paul of Texas — in the presidential race.

I wouldn't mind getting new blood into Graham's seat.
That said,
As to how Graham is stumping for his candidate of choice, I guess he hadn't heard that the spot for the second coming has already been taken...
Or, perhaps he was just trying to keep up with a colleague in the House who compared Obama to Jesus & Palin to Pontius Pilate....
Just a thought

I understand the point Fowler was making. Perhaps she could have made the point differently, but this has become a "red herring" for politicians who treat most of the electorate as if we are the dumbest people on the planet.
Personally, the idea that Sarah Palin could be a heartbeat away, scares me. I don't think she is qualified to deal with the Middle East or Russia, among other issues. This is no more a personal attack on Palin than if I said the same thing about someone I like, but who lacks the skills, knowledge, background, education, etc.
I wouldn't vote for or against someone because of Carol Fowler's comment. The comment is a non-issue for me.

I can't see how any Democrat could vote for a war-monger like Lind$ey Graham. He just went over to the Republic of Georgia and promised billion$ of our taxpayer dollar$ so that we can start a NEW cold war with Russia.
We can't afford the occupation$ we're involved in now and that $elf-aggrandizing, money-$ucking fascist is busy shopping for more enemies.
Is he insane? Are we insane for having voted him into office? He sure fooled me six years ago. Not again. This portion of his base has turned against him.

Tulane-as a representative of a major party in this state, Fowler showed bad judgment, to say the least. If she thinks Palin lacks certain qualifications, then she should have spelled them out.
Instead, Fowler showed a haughty disdain & holier than thou attitude (a not so subtle jab at Palin's faith beliefs) that ultimately reflects badly on the candidate she is trying to get elected.
To criticize an opposing candidate & his choice of a running mate by joking, being sarcastic, showing disdain for, making light of...whatever it was she was doing..an aspect of a faith belief not only is disturbing, it is hypocrisy plain & simple since it comes from a member of a party that preaches tolerance & diversity..

Fowler's half butt apology dug her hole deeper. She basically said "Oh no folks,I was speaking to the retards here in SC who vote based on one issue."How insulting.I personally don't vote based on one issue.I understand that some people like O'Bama. But people comparing him to Christ? If I were in/running for public office and any supporter of mine compared me to Christ....I would immediately release a statement saying something to the effect of "I'm thankful I have such strong supporters. However,I do not want to be compared to Jesus Christ. The comparision is way off base and sacrilegious.I am a man running for office-not Christ."Can you imagine how big his ego is to have not addressed this yet?

I think this Conley guy sounds hopeful. It is amazing how many Republicans want Graham out, and for a very good reason.
Personally, I hope Conley beats Graham to a pulp come election time.

Fowler's comment was stupid but Like her husband's it came from the heart. That is why the democratic party should insist on their resignations. This stain will not go away but will be repeated and repeated at every convenient politically charges arguement. Resignation would be the honorable thing to do, but like Bill clinton honor has no place in these peoples resume. Why is it that liberals are not content with just disagreeing with conservative but feel like they have to hate and smear anyone that does not fall into line with their talking points. It is obvious that they do not think with their heads but with their emotions. Some who write in these comment sections would rather call someone who disagrees with them a name or slur instead of presenting the points or ideas of their arguements.

I think that Fowler and Graham are fine examples of State leadership. How can you critisize Lindsey and then over 70% of you lend your support come election day? Can you say hypocrites! So what if Fowler call you simple minded and Lindsey call you bigots, they were only telling the truth! You will be re-electing Lindsey when your speaking spanish and paying $20 a gallon for gas. You'll hate him but you will re-elect him, mark my word. Bless your hearts.

Conley doesn't have much of a chance here in SC. Our best hope is that McCain wins and he appoints Grahamnesty to some other "gubment" job and he resigns his seat, allowing Mark Sanford to appoint a republican replacement.

What's some of the opinions on this board with this candidate Bob Conley. I have voted for democrats in the past and probably will in the future. I just won't vote a liberal or a damn socialist posing as a democrat. There is no way I'll vote for Lindsey but this guy Bob Conley doesn't seem to bad. Any opinions?

You can tell a lot about Barack Obama by a review of the OTHER partner on the Democrat ticket, Michelle Obama. The characteristically angry, "Hate America", Michelle Obama experienced a Hollywood makeover for her DNC convention speech that will beguile the "willing dupes" in the electorate. You could almost see her gag when she had to recite Obama's handler's line about "loving her country." But, her previous well-publicized radical associations; and, her multiple attempts to trash our Nation, will betray her scripted persona. It was a foregone conclusion that the Obama handlers would have Michelle with a smile-cast to cover-up her normally angry countenance, and chain-locked to the teleprompter with their carefully scripted commentary so as to obscure the prospective 1st lady's deeply angry disposition towards America. What a tragic example for our children; what a disastrous blow to societal cohesion at home; what a disconcerting message to our friends and allies; and, what a comforting message to our fanatical opponents abroad; to see a woman who has expressed her beliefs that: "our souls are broken in this nation"; "blacks must join in solidarity to combat a white oppressor"; "we're a country that is just downright mean."; "We're a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents."; "America is guided by fear, and getting worse all the time."; and, laments that she will face, "further integration and/or assimilation into a white culture and social structure"; to have a potential opportunity to secure the White House itself as the platform for her hate-filled dictum. And, of note to practicing Christians in our society, is Michelle's pledge that: "Barack will be tireless in keeping legal the practice of partial birth abortions". All of this from a woman who has benefited enormously from affirmative actions which she conveniently neglected to mention in the convention speech! Along with her husband's long-term subversive associations, his immersion in seditious anti-American diatribe; and, his recent proclamation: "I don't want that (referring to America in its current form) for my little girls.", has indeed revealed the Obamas as the real-life Manchurian Couple; and, certainly explains Obama's proclamation: "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded as the military." The program that Obama has referred to is "Public Allies", of which Michelle is the Executive Director of the Chicago Chapter; and, which consists of government-funded reeducation camps where Amercan youth are brainwashed into thinking "America is a racist, oppressive place in need of social change."
