Michelle Obama not visiting
Past story
Michelle Obama may visit; Could it signal hard fight planned in GOP state? published 08/21/08
It looks like Michelle Obama isn't coming to Charleston this fall after all, at least not to give the keynote address at the Charleston NAACP banquet.
Officials had a tentative commitment from the schedulers for the wife of Democratic presidential contender and U.S. Sen. Barack Obama that called for her to address their 92nd annual Freedom Fund Banquet this month.
But the Rev. Joe Darby, vice president of the Charleston branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, announced Friday that the banquet has been postponed until October and that their keynote speaker will be U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., an Illinois Democrat who represents Obama in Congress.
It's unclear if Michelle or Sen. Barack Obama will campaign in this state between now and Nov. 4.
If they do, it would be the surest sign yet that Obama's campaign thinks it has a shot at winning this heavily Republican state.
South Carolina gave Obama's primary campaign a huge boost in January, but it hasn't voted Democratic in a presidential election since 1976.
While the Obamas might not stump in this state, his campaign has a grass-roots effort under way to register many new voters here.

Oh well, Looks like the Liberal Socialists have given up on South Carolina and..... This just in, Obamas cohorts announce a massive scale back in Georgia.
There's two states they have decided that don't matter to them.
The Liberal Socialists who have installed Obama as their candidate stand for expanding government control into every aspect of your life, cradle to grave.
The Republican party and lots of cross-over Democrats voted McCain as their candidate, using the old and antiquated method of "One man One vote. John McCain stands for going into government with a Louieville slugger and beating it into shape to serve us better....NoBAMA-08

You can see in eyes and feel it in his answers when he is asked about what he would do. You notice he never brings the topic up. This guys record is such a shame. I don't see how anyone can seriously defend it. At least Jesse Jackson is willing to cut Obama's nuts off.. I don't see him out supporting him or for that matter Hillary, Bill, or Gore. Hell even Gore's running mate is supporting McCain. That should tell people something.

This should enforce the fact that Obama does not care about America and is only interested in trying to win this election (which is already lost) so he and others like him can put forth their Socialist agenda. I be he and his Marxist wife will only be campaigning in certain states to spew the socialist trash were it will not be embraced. I think Palin will be embraced by most and will show all her detractors are dead wrong. I think many are under estimating this woman.

You HYPOCRITES praise Sarah Palin for her 17 yr. old Pregnat UNWED daughter, (TRAILER TRASH) but slanders others, especially African-Americans for having NO morales and NO Pride about themselves. Barack Obama has Good chances in S.C. and Ga. among other southern states to carry their electoral votes as well. All it will take is a massive BLACK turnout and it will be in his favor to WIN! Believe me more Blacks and other minorites are registering in RECORD numbers. It may come as a surprise to you Backwoods, Red-necked Hicks, but he has a HIGH percentage of WHITE voters, those with CLASS who will play a key role in him being elected our next President! The hatred and negativity of Sen. Barack and Michelle Obama is unwarranted and most of it is LIES! To disagree with someone politically is one thing, but to invent mostly lies and trash is another. Most of you posting and spewing your RACIAL hatred, yes I said RACIAL because that's exactly what it is! Your WORST NIGHTMARE is seeing a BLACK Man or any person of color or another ethnicity become President. Blacks have come a long way in america and still have a ways to go. We have endured Segregeation, Racism, Jim Crow, Lynchings, etc. but it only makes us more resilient and determined. I believe and pray that Sen. Obama will be elected our next President and you will have more time to bask in your RACIAL PREJUDICES or truly become a part of America, The land of the Free and the Home of the BRAVE!

You all decries Sen. Obama for not serving but heap praises on Bush and Cheney who have done absolutely NOTHING! Hypocrisy at it's BEST! You conservatives always flip-flop when it suits your own agenda. You heap insults and condemnations especially on minorities for teen-age pregnacy, but you PRAISE Sarah Palin for her daughter being a ROLE MODEL so to speak. You go on a war path for Sen. The Obama campaign prefers to keep Michelle under wraps. The characteristically angry, "Hate America", Michelle Obama experienced a Hollywood makeover for her DNC convention speech that will beguile the "willing dupes" in the electorate. You could almost see her gag when she had to recite Obama's handler's line about "loving her country." But, her previous well-publicized radical associations; and, her multiple attempts to trash our Nation, will betray her scripted persona. It was a foregone conclusion that the Obama handlers would have Michelle with a smile-cast to cover-up her normally angry countenance, and chain-locked to the teleprompter with their carefully scripted commentary so as to obscure the prospective 1st lady's deeply angry disposition towards America. What a tragic example for our children; what a disastrous blow to societal cohesion at home; what a disconcerting message to our friends and allies; and, what a comforting message to our fanatical opponents abroad; to see a woman who has expressed her beliefs that: "our souls are broken in this nation"; "blacks must join in solidarity to combat a white oppressor"; "we're a country that is just downright mean."; "We're a nation of cynics, sloths, and complacents."; "America is guided by fear, and getting worse all the time."; and, laments that she will face, "further integration and/or assimilation into a white culture and social structure"; to have a potential opportunity to secure the White House itself as the platform for her hate-filled dictum. And, of note to practicing Christians in our society, is Michelle's pledge that: "Barack will be tireless in keeping legal the practice of partial birth abortions". All of this from a woman who has benefited enormously from affirmative actions which she conveniently neglected to mention in the convention speech! Along with her husband's long-term subversive associations, his immersion in seditious anti-American diatribe; and, his recent proclamation: "I don't want that (referring to America in its current form) for my little girls.", has indeed revealed the Obamas as the real-life Manchurian Couple. Look at the criminals, terrorist and racist America hating people has associated himself his entire adult life. Show me were anyone is saying Palin daughter is a role model. RW,
I'm NOT PIMPED by anyone, let alone the Democratic Party. It may come as a surprise to you, but Blacks are NOT a Monolithic
group beholden to anyone, Rep. or Dem. My problem with Clarence Thomas is that he wants to FORGET from whence he came, and burn the very bridges that brought him over. What fruits did he sow during the movements? He has tried repeatedly to destroy the works of the late GREAT THURGOOD MARSHALL who was the first black to sit own the U.S. supreme Court. Again I say RACE is NOT a factor, but the BEST person for the job. I know it's a SHOCKER to you, but yes it's TRUE that the Democrat party at times did NOT support or stand up for their most loyal voting constituency. There are a few decent republicans I respect, Jack kemp, Justice David Souter on the Supreme court, former Sen. Lincoln Chafee (who has ENDORSED Barack Obama) to name a few. Shocker, right?

I was furious in 2000 when not ONE Democrat Senator joined in with the Congressional Black Caucus to challenge the Fla. votes. I have even voted for a couple of Republicans to your disbeleief, because again I felt they were

I am not surprised by all of the Obama supporters comments. The fact is the Democrats are writing off the state of SC. There is nothing to gain, so why expend the effort. I too am a career soldier from the state of SC, but has never been lucky to be stationed less than four hours from home. I am neither a Republican nor Democrat, rather I vote for the best team. Last election, I voted for the Kerry/Edwards ticket because I wanted Rumsfeld out. This go round I listened to all of the speeches and looked at the records. I am voting McCain/Palin this November. Obama never came to see the troops in the sand until he thought it would be good press. I heard both Palin and McCain visited numerous times. Obama doesn't get it. I just don't trust him. I have given over 27 years to America's Army and will be coming home soon. I just hope and pray Charleston is friendlier than these writings. There are some hollow minded folks. I just ask you all to read and have an open mind. Don't judge someone based on the color or education. Look at their records. Actions speak louder than some 10 minute sound bite. Please do not overlook Cindy McCain's lifelong work with Michelle Obama. Coming Home Soon

Sorry --- Compare and contrast the work of Cindy McCain and that of Michelle Obama. I am impressed with the work of McCains' and haven't seen much from the Obama duo.

Thanks for your service to this Great Country and may God continue to Bless you, my fellow Comrade. I respect you for exercising your right to vote and be heard, that's why You, myself, and our other BRAVE comrades past and present continue to serve. I'm supporting Sen. Obama because I feel and BELIEVE
he is the BEST Man for the job at this time. I respect you for supporting Sen. McCain, again he is to be COMMENDED for his service and sacrifice. I disagree that Sen. Obama in anyway snubbed the troops while overseas, one can continue to speculate, but Sen. Obama has the HIGHEST RESPECT for those who serve, continue to serve, and have served. The Conservative mouth piece and media portrayed it to be that way. Color is NOT important, and RACE should not be an issue. I wish you traveling mercies on your way home, and God Bless you and your family, and God Bless America!

Jeff 61,
I am NOT calling him an Uncle Tom, You mentioned it. I grew up in the south during the Civil Rights era and can REMEMBER
vividly what it was like. My late Father and Mother instilled VALUE and HARD WORK ethics where we would NOT have to rely on Gov't HAND OUTS! I'M A Successful Black Man who has worked hard to achieve what he has ACCOMPLISHED today. I will NOT however forget the segregation era and the unfair, unequality we were
subjected to. It only made me more DETERMINED than ever to achieve and succeed whatever I put my mind, heart, and soul too. There were many WHITES who took advantage of the Welfare state also, but america will continue to DENY and overlook that it HAPPEND!

He has a hell of a way of showing it....You only feel and believe but you have nothing of substance to back up it. You have already shown you were hell bent on voting for a Dem. You felt and beleived Hillary was the one. Color and Race are same thing are they not?

I was furious in 2000 when not ONE Democrat Senator joined in with the Congressional Black Caucus to challenge the Fla. votes.
Again you inject race into every thing.
why could Congressional Caucus not challenge the Fla votes....Maybe because they had more common sense.
You continue to show ... never mind.. no credibilty

On second thought they must not be. Obama and his own words have shown that.

The Congressional Black caucus DID challenge the Fla. 2000 electoral votes during the Joint session of Congress. They needed only U.S. Senator to sign on, which NONE DID! I'm NOT always injecting RACE into everything as you suggest it to be, but sadly and TRUTHFULLY RACISM EXIST ON BOTH SIDES! Surprised I said that right? If Sen. McCain is elected President, I will put aside any difference an acknwoledge him as such, because first and foremost I am an American First! I seriously doubt your side will be that accomodating to Sen. Obama if he is elected President.

Well maybe that is part of the problem. I would see you as a successful man where as you continue to see yourself as a black man. Why,,, I do not know. I am not from down here and cannot speak as to how things use to be. I was not part of that. Again you have such narrow views and it seems you can only see things as Black or White... No one has denied whites took advantage of the welfare state...

Me mot being accomodating to Sen. Obama if he is elected President had nothing to do with his race. His record and expericence does not provide me any reason to consider him. His ideas and platform are not those I agree with. You seem to be all caught up in something that you are not even reading what poeple are saying.... I seen enough.

No, in spite of what happenned to her daughter because she is a strong, principled conservative leader and her daughters situation doesn't change that.
and
Sara Palin and her husband will take care of the situation, no matter what happens in the Presidential race, not the welfare state.

stanish -
It was the Democrat party that has kept Black men and women enslaved since reconstruction. The more they keep people dependent on them, for their daily bread, the tighter the shackles are applied.
Stop for a moment and look at what has caused the current economic malaise in America. The high cost of energy; the spiraling upward cost of housing; the disastrous policy of qualifying people for loans they couldn't afford has done more to cause this than anything else.
Almost anyone in economic distress today can point to one of these reasons as a contributing factor
(1) Which party is and has been refusing a clean, up or down vote for allowing expanded drilling in areas of America where oil is known to be abundant?
(2) Which party forced through congress the lowering of requirements on getting a government backed housing loan?
(3) Which presidential candidate has stated the intent to reduce the ability of the U.S.A. to defend itself by slicing the military and destroying our nuclear deterrent....NoBAMA-08

Are the less fortunate people that Obama organized any better off today.? Give me some Obama examples of the good things and success stories that show what Obama did truly paid off for these people.. What problems that effect his community did he help them overcome,,,the murders, drugs,,generations of welfare..Was he able to help with start up bussiness to make them self suffient? Did he address anything of these real problems that effect his community.. The only thing I can find is something about his organization cleanning up some fiberglass..which by the way was done with federal grant money...It seems starting back then Obama was gearing up the goverement hand out programs.

Can't speak for others but not me, though I am sure we would disagree on which are good and which are not.
Holding up community organizer experience for POTUS versus a state govenors executive experience does, well, seem to be an invitation to unkind comments.

blah_blah_blah, what does "being a community organizer and wanting to help others less fortunate in your community" have to do with being President of the United States. There are so many people that are "community organizers," probally alot on this site, and are not qualified to be President. You must be living in a dreamworld. If any of you community organizers want to be president, run for office in four years. Heck maybe I will. LOL, I am a 100% Free Thinking White Man. "Just because you can regurgitate Rush Limbaugh quotes"
Actually Rush has very few quotes of his own IMO, except for how great he is :), but that doesn't change the researched facts presented. A very large portion of his show is playing the Actual audio of your liberal leaders saying the absurd, mean, arrogant elitist things they say. The things you do not hear/read in the supposed professional media. The ones where you ask yourself "did he/she really just say that?" Because many of them are so ridiculous he plays them back more then once so you can be sure.

I always get a chuckle reading the threads from this paper!
Usually I read silently, chuckle, and move on, but the comment from
"RW" that Michelle Obama attendance in Ivy-League schools based solely on race was to crazy even for me to pass up!
These type of comments come from white males who still live in the fantasy world that there is no way that a black person can achieve as much or more than a white male in terms of education, income, etc. on their own merits. Not intelligent enough. Not motivated enough.
Ironically, the ultimate "affirmative action" baby is George W. Bush. Attended Yale based on his family credentials, not his intelligence. And it shows in his work performance (moving toward 1 million jobs lost this year alone; +4.00 gas; and much more).
Obama and his spouse could lose this election in November, and will still be financially secure. Many of you who are critical of them solely due to your race bias will be like many who voted twice for the guy "you felt you could drink a beer with"...out of a house, a job, and luck. I bet some of you can already relate, but don't have the intelligence to tie your current circumstance to the failed policies of the current administration. You also do not understand that your biased sentiment an outlier, not the norm.
But you will, in about 8 weeks :-)

Well,, I have yet to see the Obama supporters come out with anything that Obama did for those poor helpless people in Chicago as a community organizer. I am sure many in th Mafia thought of themselves as "Community Organizers". Maybe organize them into getting additional government hand outs... Did he empower them to create their own business to be self-sufficient? Other then getting a great deal of earmarks, what else has Obama done for the people he respresents? He bailed on them after 140 days to embark on this endeavor. He voted present 130 times rather then take a stand on anything. Obama supporters have yet to come out with any facts about what Obama has done or what reasons they have to support him. The only thing Obama supporters do is come out with their "the conservatives are racist" B.S. The facts are the Obama's associated with a radical racist hate America church lead by Rev Wright that even the Queen Liberal herself, Oprah had to leave which proves to me that Oprah is far more intelligent then Michelle Obama. She apparently was not smart enough to see through Wright.. Obama only denounced it only when it affected his campaign. Obama is deep rooted with the murder and terrorist Ayers and not to mention Ricco.
