Budiansky to open Daniel Library Friends’ book, lecture series

Reconstruction, the arduous aftermath of the War Between the States, commands the stage in Tuesday night’s opening of the Daniel Library Friends’ fall Book and Lecture series at The Citadel, showcasing an appearance by Stephen Budiansky, author of “The Bloody Shirt: Terror After Appomattox.”
Other speakers in the series, which runs through Dec. 2, will tackle such diverse areas of interest as the gardens of France and 20th-century U.S. foreign policy in Vietnam, Iran, Iraq and Korea.
All programs are free and open to the public. Lectures begin at 6:30 p.m. in Bond Hall, Room 165.
