Jail check finds 170 illegal immigrants
HILTON HEAD ISLAND — A crackdown has identified 170 illegal immigrants in Beaufort County's jail, and the sheriff said he has heard the extra scrutiny is causing a number of people in the U.S. illegally to leave the area.
The county is two months into a three-month crackdown on illegal immigrants. Agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement are at the jail, helping to weed out any inmates who should not be in the U.S.
Sheriff P.J. Tanner told The Island Packet of Hilton Head that the next step will be investigating companies suspected of hiring illegal immigrants.
Officials auditing county business licenses are expected to hand over the names of several companies suspected of hiring undocumented workers this week, and deputies will look into both supervisors and workers, Tanner said.
"We have heard through different sources in the county that there is a percentage of foreign-born illegals who have been voluntarily leaving the county, particularly those with children," Tanner said. "They don't want to be picked up for a traffic offense and then get tied up in deportation."
Community leader Juan Campos said the crackdown is causing fear. Business at his Mi Tierra restaurants has fallen 60 percent as his customers leave town, said Campos, who served as president of the Latin American Council of South Carolina before the group changed its name and focus.
The crackdown also is creating fears that deputies are stopping suspected illegal immigrants for minor violations like having a car light out just to check if they are in the country legally, Campos said.

The law states, according to the (1986) Immigration Control act. Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A): they broke Federal law. It states, "..a person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) So if this law is correct illegal immigrants should not be counted in any Census. California is paying a heavy price for aiding and abetting illegal aliens. $11 Billion of the, the $17.5 billion budget mess is directly related to illegal immigrant welfare programs. In fact any state, county or city that shelters illegal immigrants, should lose Federal funds. Those elected officials implicated should go to prison. HOW MANY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE REALLY IN OUR UNITED STATES???
There is endless speculation about how many illegal immigrants there are in our United States. Our politicians, especially the pro-illegal ones, love to use the number 12 million. They have been using that same number for the last four years, all while, each year, millions more illegals have invaded our United States.
Illegals have been swarming across our border ever since 1986, when amnesty was granted to the estimated 1.3 million illegal immigrants, who were here at that time, which turned out to be closer to 3.5 million.
In 2001, before any real concentrated border enforcement effort, it was estimated that the Border Patrol apprehended 1, out of every 7, illegal immigrants, attempting to cross our Southern border. Now, with a increased Border Patrol effort, and 300 miles of fencing, plus some vehicle barriers, along the almost 2,000 mile Southern border, it is estimated that the Border Patrol now apprehends 1, out of every 4, illegal immigrants, attempting to cross our Southern border.
So, realizing that we could grossly guestimate how many illegals came into our country each year, by multiplying available DHS statistics on Border Patrol apprehensions, by as much as 6, in the early years, and by 3 in the last couple of years, how many illegals do you think we now have in our country??
-------------SOUTHWEST BORDER PATROL APPREHENSIONS----------
---1999------2000------2001------2002------2003------2004------2005------2006-----2007-----2008
1,537,000-1,643,679-1,235,718--929,809--905,065-1,139,282-1,189,108-1,071,972-858,638-611,721
In the last ten years, well over 11 million illegals have been apprehended at the border. If we used the lowest multiplier, that 1, out of 4, were apprehended, it still indicates that over 33 million illegals entered our United States, and that is just in the last ten years. How many more entered from 1987 to 1998??
Let's stop accepting, or believing, that there are only 12 million illegals in our United States. There are probably much closer to 40 million, if not more. We can even assume that as many as 20 million former illegals have since become legal over the past 22 years, and the numbers of illegals, here right now, could still be well over 30 million.
What is your best guess on the number of illegals in our country??
Support E-Verify for ALL employees, and let's begin taking our country back!!!

Support the 287(g) program, and let's restore the funding that NC Rep David Price saw fit to cut from the DHS I.C.E. budget, to prevent I.C.E. from conducting raids. NC Rep. David Price needs to be removed from office.

Why every jail in the United States didn't enforce or crackdown on every inmates immigration status is beyond me?
Has anyone checked out:
http://www.lapdonline.org/most_wanted
Their City Council only started checking out inmates
immigration status recently.
The open Border advocates nearly had a nervous breakdown over this.
Deport all illegal aliens from the U.S.
Start with the jails.
Then extend this crackdown to schools and to employment sites.
Illegal aliens are costing us billions and stealing American jobs.
