A 46-year-old man was killed inside a house this morning in the Sedgefield subdivision near Goose Creek, authorities said.
Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the brick ranch-style home at 1 Fanwood Road just before 6 a.m. A man who lived at the home was dead at the scene, said Dan Moon, Sheriff’s Office public information officer.
The Coroner’s Office identified him as 46-year-old James Moricoli. Deputy Coroner George Oliver referred questions about how Moricoli died to the Sheriff’s Office.
Moon said a second man at the home was taken in for questioning. He expected to release more details this afternoon.
Neighbors said the area is generally quiet, though police had responded to the home where the killing occurred several times in the past. They said a woman lives at the house with two her two sons and that she also rents out rooms.
