Graffiti found on signs

Staff report
Tuesday, October 14, 2008

Several signs in the Island Estates neighborhood on Johns Island have been painted with gang graffiti, a police report says.

A Charleston police officer at about 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 found the graffiti along Island Estates Drive, the report said.

The officer noted that he saw the number 18 sprayed on a speed limit sign and a stop sign, and "18 ST" was sprayed on a speed hump sign and the side of a fence.

On one sign, "X8 ST" was sprayed on the front and "Lil Criminals" on the back, the report says.

It said another sign had "Norteitos N 14" sprayed on the back.

Seriously? There's graffiti all over the place Downtown. Whatever happened to the anti-graffiti patrol - can they not walk down King Street?

I also noticed a ton of litter, including plastic and glass tumblers and wineglasses all over Queen Street after the Friday Art walk a few weeks ago. Visitors on my tour noticed, and they wondered why the City didn't do something about it.

Don’t know
I live west of Ash. And I when around my neighborhood and made a list of all the signs that were marked with graffiti and it was forwarded to the city by our neighborhood assoc. - I have seen no action and it has been months since we sent in the list.

What? Gang graffiti? Really?
Sureños 13 have been taging Johns Island for a long time. The tomato packing plant on Brownswood had this tag for almost a year. Luckily my spanish speaking husband knew what it was and finally stopped and told them. They knew and didn't much care to remove it from their own building!

If the Norteños are here too, we are in trouble.

Graffiti is almost always a sure sign that the neighborhood is in decline.

Neponset- you can quit holding your breath. They aren't going to do anything about it. Just like the old Kmart on Hwy 78 in Summerville. Nothing is being done because the owner of the property doesn't want to spend the money.

All it means is that we have or need ICE agents to get the illegals from our communities. Yall dont think the legal nationals are participating in illegal activity. These illegals scare them too. Being a democrat this is one thing I hate about democrats. No amnesty
