President Bush and Laura Bush, far right, greet the Simpsonville Stars 11-12 year old Little League World Champion softball team at Charleston Air Force Base.

President Bush made his fifth, and possibly last, trip to the Charleston Air Force Base on Friday where he praised a world champion softball team before helping raise $1.4 million for the national Republican Party.

"Proud to be with you," were the only audible words heard over the din of roaring helicopter engines as Bush congratulated the "Simpsonville Stars," winners of this year's Little League Softball World Series.

After a short picture-taking session with the players, Bush and first lady Laura Bush headed for Kiawah Island and a closed-door reception with the Republican National Committee. It drew up to 100 people.

The appearance was part of a $1.4 million fundraising haul at Kiawah, the RNC said Friday.

In all, the Bushes were on the ground a few hours.

The president and the first lady arrived in separate planes about 10 minutes apart Friday afternoon as

Bush was traveling on Air Force One from a fundraiser in Florida. He spoke in support of a free Cuba.

At the base, Bush waved to the crowd and shook hands with U.S. Rep. Henry Brown but did not make a formal statement. The first couple then greeted a few hundred airmen and their families before posing for pictures with the girls' team, winners of the softball series played in August in Portland, Ore.

Coach Roger O'Donald said the president's visit meant a lot to a group that represented a small town of 15,000 people south of Greenville on the world stage.

"He congratulated us on a job well done," O'Donald said. "He said, 'You won it all.' " Members of the team, mostly 11- and-12 year old girls, said meeting the president was as equal a thrill as winning the world crown.

"The World Series was better for my sports world, but meeting the president was better for my life" experience, said pitcher Carley Hoover, 13.

"Both were great," said leftfielder Erin Errington, 12. "It was great to win and it was great to meet the president." The team won the world title after coming from behind and rallying for five runs with two outs to defeat the East region U.S. team from Robbinsville, N.J.. The series is the equivalent of the boys' Little League World Series that finishes in Williamsport, Pa. After the president's departure, the girls' team headed home for another game in the morning. Their record is 80-7 one of the coaches said. Most of the team have been playing together for several years.

Bush also presented the President's Volunteer Service Award to Eileen Hadbavny. Hadbavny is a volunteer with the Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Hadbavny has been a Red Cross volunteer for 20 years and has been volunteering with the Carolina Lowcountry chapter since 2003, where she has logged more than 7,000 volunteer hours.

The Bushes returned to Washington on Friday night after the Kiawah event. The trip was Bush's first visit to South Carolina since he gave the commencement address at Furman University in May.

I don't know who was more ashamed, Bush when he had to shake Brown's hand, or Brown when he found out it was really Bush who set his backyard on fire.

Either way, 100 people raising 1.4 million is impressive. That should help McCain keep his loss just under 30 states, give or take a few million votes.

john_doe45 folks like you scare the daylights out of me, folks like you were once given a brown uniform to set the world a blaze. They should have sent you to Iraq or Afghanistan. Young kids were sent into Iraq under false pretense.

My son still suffers from nightmares about his assignment in Afghanistan and then such pleasant fellow citizen like you comes around saying Busch is our savior? What makes people like you so dangerous is that your judgment is paired with and impaired by stupidity and ignorance and that's a highly toxic and volatile mixture.

Gee, I would say W has done pretty good, what with fighting the press, islamic fanatics, and a domestic communist insurgency that has purposely caused a crash to try and elevate their candidate, Nobama, into office.

History will judge W to being a incompetent idiot surrounded by a bunch nefarious and unscrupulous profiteers. Sorry, but you are not going to get any sympathy from me when it comes to Bush. Just realizing his days are numbered puts a smile on my face!:)

Bill Ayers: OK, Barak, the new ads are ready. Read this tag line.
Nobama: "I'm Barak Nobama and I approved this bombing."
Ayers: Here is your next speech. I just finished it. Go get 'em, Comrade.
Nobama: Gee, Bill where would I be without you and George Soros?
Ayers: Nowhere, dummy. We invented you. Here's some Christians you can torture. Now go away. And don't forget your programming session tonight.

Change: New Islamic courts rule the former America, now the United Islamic Democratic Republic. Ba'athist Party rules unopposed. Saddam is recreated by reassembling his DNA and made Homeland Security Chief. All who do not take the Stamp are executed in a shredder. Nobama controls the state economy. Exiled religious groups and former small business owners flee to the hinterlands where they wage an armed resistance. This would be a great movie on the sci-fi channel. Too bad it may turn out to be more than sci-fi.

One thing about SgtPsycho, RW and many other posters on charleston.net, they have labels for everybody with whom they disagree.

The butt of sgtpsycho's diatribe would have worn a red triangle (political prisoner) while RW's favorite group to bash would have worn a pink triangle (homosexual). I would have worn yellow with another superimposed triangle to complete my special classification. We would have all ended up in the same place.

This week, I saw John McCain correct some ignorant folks at a rally while his Vice Presidential candidate stoked the fires of hatred, in true "Brownshirt" fashion. Even if experience and intellect are not important in the VP race, the way Gov. Palin stirred the crowds scared me when she appealed to that special part of the "electorate" known for hatred, intolerance and vitriol. If I am not mistaken, I heard shouts of “treason”, “terrorist” and “kill him.” Are you kidding me? These are patriotic Americans yelling to murder a candidate with whom they disagree?

I can't even address President Bush in this post. I wanted him to succeed, because I love my country more than I care about partisan politics. Nevertheless, this president has failed terribly, but has received a "pass" from his congregants on everything that has gone wrong during the last eight years. Maybe he should be excused on the economy, as Sgtpsycho brilliantly points out that the crash in the economy is the deliberate result of a "domestic communist insurgency." The recent disclosure that the warrantless bugging of international phone calls now extends to soldiers having intimate conversations with their spouses, makes me want to throw up.

spankerbuns, thewexler, guidedbystewart and all the rest of the Liberal, Socialist dung that hide in the dark corners of this open forum are like cockroaches turn on a light and they run for cover.

You spew forth lies and hatred with no proof except the words of others like you who are as evil and demented as you. You spread your evil lies with the conviction of a Gestapo Stormtrooper, your master must be proud of your work for he is as Legion..

The first bill produced by the Liberal Socialist Democrats in Congress contained in excess of $20,000,000,000 (20 billion dollars), your TAX DOLLARS, for obamas buddies at ACORN.

Luckily, normal Republicans and Democrats in Congress shut it down.

We are now finding that ACORN is conducting a MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD operation across the United States of America, to steal the election for obama. Now we find, due to detailed investigative reporting via CNN, Fox and others, that there very strong ties between obama and ACORN.................

Can you say coup d'état.

Notice how the commie posters can be identified by their attacks on the opposing posters, not their arguments. Fact is, we are close to electing a secular muslim socialist to the Presidency. In the Service, Psycho had to study the strategy and tactics of communism in subverting democratic republics. They are working according to plan. One thing re-enforced was the patience and discipline of the marxists. It has paid off. They now control the press, universities and one major political party. The marxist-engineered collapse of the economy was their major coup to date. This Republic will soon cease to exist, which is too bad, but at least there are many Americans who will not go down without a fight, whatever form it may end up taking.
Very, very bad times are ahead.

I am just expressing my opinion and you can disagree with it or not, I could care less. I could easily substantiate that the likes of Cheney, Wolfwitz, Ashcroft, and other Neo-cons are nefarious opportunist and evil people, but most of America already knows this, it is just the few kool-aid drinkers that still refuse to believe otherwise. Just because I did not cut and paste lies and half truths from propaganda sites does not make my opinions any less or more valid than any ones else’s opinion. Actually since Bush has become a lame duck president, he has become more humble and at least tolerable, I think he is a little worried how he will be portrayed in the history books, and realized many of his mistakes. Unlike Cheney and others he surrounded himself with, I still think he wanted what was best for this country. Like Tulane, I wanted the best for this country and wanted him to do well (though I never voted for him) like I would any president, but I also feel that he has failed. Again my opinion.

Good Morning john_doe45, I see that the propaganda machine working overtime huh? Keep fighting the good fight, but then again propaganda can only go so far.

The taxpayers of America should bill the the president and the RNC for the use of Air Force One and Laura's plane since they were used for political fundraising. Just take it off my tax bill W. He said in Florida he wants a free Cuba? Then why hasn't he called for open trade and travel to Cuba over the past 8 years? Do we have to wait until the Castros are gone to have trade and travel with Cuba? All the junk we buy from China, Japan, and Taiwan and we can't even legally enjoy a Cuban cigar from a country just off our shore. It is a little late to call for a free Cuba and make policy now W. Why didn't W. go to a public gathering and fundraiser at North Charleston Coliseum? "Come see the President at North Charleston Coliseum on October 10!" That would have been better. But he would probably have heard some boos and not gotten much money. These Presidents are so out of touch. They go to their air bases and political party enclaves where they are shielded from public sight and comment. Oh I forgot something, why would Bush come to Charleston on behalf of the RNC when they didn't even want him at McCain's convention? He should have told them to take a hike.

The top 10 "red states that voted for Bush last election, were more inept educationally and earned less than the top 10 "blue" states that swung to Kerry? Not hard to believe after reading a lot of this "feces" put out by these right wing "payasos de culo"!! It's easy as this, put up or shut the f@ck up. I like how the cover story in the media the past few days for Bush's trip here has been "to meet with the winners of the Little League World Series from Simpsonville." I thought "Where the hell is Simpsonville?". It's near Greenville. I wondered, Why didn't he fly into Shaw AFB?

Turns out they put the kids on a bus from Greenville and had them wait in the rain on the tarmac at Charleston AFB for the President's 5 minute photo op. Then he gets whisked via helicopter for the next 2 hours for the REAL purpose of the trip, the $1.5 million RNC fundraiser at Kiawah.

His advance team should be congratulated for spinning this trip so well.

Bush and his family have been business associates and have socialized with the Bin Ladens.
Bush normalized relations with Moamar Qaddafi, a terrorist who masterminded the Lockerbie bombing and numerous terrorist attacks on westerners, expats and the US military in Europe.

Anybody worried about the "left" not showing up to vote? Well unfortunately for the "right wing" bozos, you might want to hope and pray that S.C. doesn't mirror what's going on in the country(although it does). Blacks have registered at twice the rate of whites in the past 10 mos here in the good ol' "red" state of S.C(guess who they're voting for?) Another tidbit is that the Democrats have registered 160,000 new voters since January of this year(guess who they're voting for?) So if the numbers are correct here in Dixie(and elsewheres), Grandpa and the "pitbull in a skirt" might be moonwalking across that "bridge to nowhere" in about 3 short weeks! Like I said before, these right wing nuts are talking about moving to Canada when Barack gets elected?? Are you really that stupid? Canada is way more liberal than America? I don't think "payasos de culo" from Dixie would do so well up there w/all their socialism and stuff?? Only 3 weeks. Shalom

So what he has us in a war for no apparent reason besides a personal vendetta his father started? So what he is looked at as a disgrace by most Americans? So what even his own party is disconnecting with him during this presidential election? So what he is a total dummy? He is still the president (lucky not much longer)so we should be respectful as posibble. He came here for a political event under the guise of seeing the little girls;so what? McCain or Obama will be better than what we have now. Its almost over. Over the years both parties have departed from their core philosophies/issues/values. Both parties have abused the trust of the people.

When will people realize that regardless of party affiliation, elected officials, once they get to Washington, are more like each other than like any of us?

When will people realize that the factor, regardless of party, which is the driving force behind anything they do or do not do is the impact(good or bad)it might have on approval ratings & re-election. It is either utter mindlessness, or pure naivete, to believe/assume otherwise.

People supporting the Democrats while claiming "All Republicans are this horrible way" or people supporting the GOP while claiming "All Liberals believe this reprehensible thing" are part of the problem & are, it appears, either blind or indifferent to the problems & faults within their own party.

I have never witnessed so much mis-placed cheerleading & loyalty for the Democrats & Republicans in my life.

After reading so many of the diatribes coming from both sides I have concluded that the dishonesty of politics has infected the masses & most voters have developed an immunity to lies & twisted truth & would not recognize the truth even if it slapped them around a bit.

The 2 major parties BOTH have had a heavy hand, at one time or another over the last few decades, in running this country onto the ground & they need to be rejected.

We need to vote for as many Libertarian candidates as we can & start the process of starting over.

Libertarians still recognize the utter beauty & importance of the Constitution. The healing in this country will not begin until we get back to that full force.

John_Dope,

You continue your little rant's of socialism and little "gotcha! cut and paste" articles from non-credible sources and expect people to actually take your foaming at the mouth attack dog presentation with any seriousness? The people you are trying to convince or piss off, could't be bothered and the other idiots already agree with you. So, uh.. what's your point?

You and some of your other distorted thinking cohorts seem to glean great pleasure in your own personal hatred and diatribes of nonesense.

Let me let you in on a little secret.

Every time you throw out the word "socialism", you're referring to George W. Bush.

* Largest increase in socialized medical benefit for seniors in 50 years.

* Federalized Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.

* Also majority owner of US's largest insurer: AIG Group.

* About to purchase major shares in large banking conglomerates across America.

* Announced program to put $700 billion in taxpayer dollars into private Wall Street firms.

* Supporting already solvent Iraqi government with American tax deficits.

* Opening up federal tax receipts to private companies "in need", such as airlines and auto manufacturers.

* Shoveling money into religious charities.

* Mandating national educational testing; increasing federal control of local schools.

Yes, that's your friend George W. Bush.

It's actually difficult to conceive of someone doing more to "socialize" the country, but I'll bet if you worry about it some more you'll be able to dream up something.

It's amazing how the term "elitist" has become so popular in this campaign?? When people from this "neck of the woods" utilize that terminology, it usually means that the "elitists" they are referring to are more than likely smarter and more successful in life than they are? Since "Joe Bobby Dixie" can't acknowledge or stomach that fact, the term "elitist" is then thrown out there. In Obama's case, the word that the brethren of Yacub really want to throw out there is "uppity", but that probably wouldn't go over well at this point in the game(racial overtones), especially since Johnny Mack is down by double digits, and his scare tactics are already blowing up in his face(Rev Wright, Farrakhan, Ayers, Acorn, Muslim, etc)?? Like has been stated before, it's neither here nor friggin there w/all the "lil girl" talk, it's about what the scoreboard says at the end of the day(Nov 4th). Other than that, it's just a lot of cut and paste and b.s. posturing for whatever camp you're down with..

Que pasa Johnny D?? Now I see why these guys are throwing wisecracks at you on a regular basis?? I know the king of friggin cut and paste didn't just toss the "pathetic" adjective out there?? Anyway fella, at the end of the day if "Gramps" and his clueless chick are all that, then they will prevail. They do have a great legacy to fall in line behind(Bush tyranny of 8 years)? So instead of getting all worked up about people calling you a loser on P&C board, you'd wonder why you guys aren't out there pounding the pavement for your McCain/Palin ticket? It's not really helping their cause when you're tossing out facts on a board that seems to be leaning left?? Whatever makes you guys happy, man??

John_Doe,

I don't need copy paste talking points. The republican party has morphed into a nationalistic party that supports aid from government to corporations, but not aid to citizens, who believes most problems stem from social decadence, and who believes dissent in unpatriotic.

Your party lost the right to complain about socialism when it started nationalizing banks.

In most states today the news was Sarah Palin abused of power in case of a trooper. P&C doesn't even have it on their site, Bush is the news trying to raise 1.4m twenty-four days before election day and our economy is mess. Guess that tells me that P&C is a republican newspaper and so is SC with their 8 electoral vote. This is the same state that vote him in office twice. Get real people in SC no one else ran this story and is counting the days when he's out of office.

I would just as soon NEVER see George B*** again, or Henrey B***. As GOD is my witness-if we get out of the mess he made I will never turst another Republican again.

What is WRONG with you people? The sitting president of the United States visits Charleston to thank the troops and recognize this group of girls on a special day...and this is the best you can do?

I am not a fan of George W. Bush, but show some respect for the office.

Why blame just President Bush for the state of our economy? In order for that argument to stand, each of us must hold both Senator Obama and Senator McCain responsible because both of them were in a better position than us to reject the economic policies that led to our market's decline before they started running for president. It's classic election year politics--it's no surprise to hear neither running for office admit playing a direct/indirect role; however, both are more than happy to blame somebody else. Seriously, how often is either candidate on congressional record, raising a motion to reform how our banks operated the mortgage industry? Neither candidate has a Ph D in Economics, yet both claim they know how to fix the economy. Classic.

Both sides are trying to place the sole blame on the other, when most objective people see a bigger picture which includes more than enough blame to go around to both major parties.

Even if one of these highly partisan rants contains some elements of truth, the hypocrisy & twisted truths that objective people see coming from both sides diminishes the overall credibility & effectiveness of what is being said & who is saying it.

I do not understand how people can get so invested in any politician they do not know personally.

I do not understand why so many people have such a zealot type loyalty for these 2 political parties, especially considering the state of this country & the fact that it has been moving toward this state over the last several decades.

John
your comments about my kids and the other kids as well favoring Obama over McCain isn't just ignorance, this is determined, banging-his-head-against-a-nail-filled-board-of-facts willful ignorance. Your guy dubya is forking out one trillion in corporate welfare and you're blaming the future president? You have the unmitigated gall to complain and cut and paste your drivel about people who deserve to receive help; whose jobs are lost and can't put food on the table because you voted this idiot in office twice? Ten minutes with google or less would disabuse you of that notion, but then you'd have to consider the possibility that you're a bigot and an idiot attempting to savage a man with ten times youe intelligence and thousands of times you compassion.

You can buy books, but why bother? You'd just chew on the covers.

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH, AND LET IT BEGIN WITH JOHNDOE45

IMPEACH BUSH FOR LYING TO US ABOUT WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION TO JUSTIFY A WAR FOR OIL

IMPRISON BUSH FOR WAR CRIMES

IMPRISON BUSH FOR VIOLATING HIS OATH, AND CRAPPING ON THE CONSTITUTION

IMPRISON BUSH FOR UNJUSTIFIED INVASIONS THAT HAVE LED TO GENOCIDE OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT CIVILIANS, WHO CANNOT GRASP THE IDEA THAT WE BOMBING THEM FOR THEIR OWN GOOD.

THIS WAR IS NO MORE JUSTIFIED THAN THE INVASION OF POLAND BY THE NAZIS.

LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH, AND LET IT BEGIN WITH ANY REPUBLICAN WHO ACTUALLY BELIEVES THAT INVADING ANOTHER COUNTRY IS GOOD FOREIGN POLICY.

PEACE, OR GENOCIDE, IT'S YOUR CHOICE.

joe doe 45, you say peace has to be defended (with war right?)
and you're calling ME, the moron.

Post your crap all you want, you're still wrong.
What is your point with quoting a bunch of idiots?
Why don't you quote someone that is a bit more worthy?

John doe, MSNBC is owned by GE, responsible for the manufacturing and testing of nuclear weapons.
Hmmm, I wonder what they did with all that Uranium, (which let's not forget to mention is also used for clean nuclear power).

And what whose freedom are you defending exactly?
Invasion of a country is neither peace, nor freedom.
The only people who are threatening my freedom are dumm arses like you who vote in favor of spying on Americans and in favor of sending our children to fight a war for oil, lying to them, and the rest of the world, and only creating more enemies.

Dip sh&8t
