Yo Burrito on Wentworth St. in downtown Charleston is a good place to get a bite to eat, something cold to drink and, as it turned out, a good place to watch a vice presidential debate.

Capitalizing on the election season, many downtown dwellers' favorite place for Mexican food is now a favorite place for American democracy, as Yo Burrito is showing each of the presidential debates before November.

Arriving on the night of the Sarah Palin-Joe Biden vice presidential debate, I noticed the beer special of the night was $3 Red Stripe and Blue Moon, appropriately enough. Yo Burrito was packed, and it was probably the most fun I've ever had watching a political debate, precisely because it was in a very lively bar/restaurant.

In addition to a number of burritos, quesadillas and other food selections, Yo Burrito offers a number of tasty margaritas, as well as the "Cheap Beer Hall of Fame," consisting of Pabst Blue Ribbon, Old Milwaukee, Schaefer, Schlitz and Olympia. I hadn't thought about any of those beer brands in years.

It's already a big hit with the College of Charleston crowd and students might want to think about taking their fathers or grandfathers there, considering its selection of legendary lagers.

I plan on heading back to Yo Burrito for the remaining presidential debates. And given the good time I had, I will elect to continue visiting long after we choose a new president.

Back in 1985, when I was just 10-years-old, my buddy Andy Nelms and I spent the entire summer trying to catch lizards. Every time we would catch one, we would put it in a container, label it and observe the lizard's behavior. Fast forward 25 years later, and wouldn't you know it, I still make poop jokes.
