Salsa Under the Stars on Friday

The Folly Beach Fishing Pier, the host of the popular Moonlight Mixers known as "Shaggin' on the Pier," will bring Latin music to the beach again this fall with "Salsa Under the Stars."

Local popular DJ Luigi of Latin Groove will spin salsa, merengue, bachata and reggaeton at the event 7-11 p.m. Friday.

Gates will open at 7 p.m.

Tickets purchased in advance are $8 for Charleston County residents and $10 for nonresidents.

Tickets purchased at the gate (if available) are $10.

Tickets are limited. Food and beverages will be available for purchase on-site at Locklear's Beach City Grill and the Gangplank Gift and Tackle Shop.

Advance tickets may be purchased at Charleston County parks headquarters or at www.ccprc.com. Rain date is Saturday. No refunds or exchanges.

Rivers Point group plans block party

The Rivers Point Plantation Homeowners Association will host a block party for the entire neighborhood Saturday at the Conch Corner cul-de-sac.

A rain date has been set for Sunday.

Area families are urged to attend. They should bring their own adult beverages and chairs. A portable toilet will be on-site.
