House fire under investigation in Coosaw Creek

North Charleston firefighters spent 10-15 minutes extinguishing a fire at a three-story home in Coosaw Creek this afternoon.
Firefighters were dispatched to 8611 Arthur Hills Circle at 1:06 p.m., North Charleston Fire Department Battalion Chief Eric Phillips said. Somebody from the homeowners' association had seen flames and smoke coming from the back of the three-story mostly brick house northeast of the intersection of Club Course Drive and Dorchester Road.
The married couple who live in the home were not there at the time of the fire, Phillips said. At least one dog escaped the fire.
The fire started downstairs, and the bottom floor had the most significant damage, Phillips said, with additional smoke and heat damage throughout the house.
The fire department's arson team was on the scene to investigate the cause is under investigation.
