School taking new applications
The Charleston Charter School for Math & Science has started accepting student applications for grades 6-10 for the 2009-2010 school year.
Applications are available on the school's Web site or may be requested by calling the school at (843) 720-3085. No test is required for admission, but students must be Charleston County residents. Applications are due Jan. 14, and a random lottery will be held that month.
The downtown charter school opened in August. It plans to eventually offer sixth through 12th grades and will have 300 students next year.
Those interested in learning more about the school can meet faculty and tour the campus at 10 a.m. Nov. 1, Dec. 6 or Jan. 10.
