Clean and polished right down to the brick veneer, Camille's cooks up paninis, wraps, sandwiches and the like.
The formula has stood the restaurant well. Camille's crafts decently priced menu items in tidy, welcoming quarters, a single sunflower sat atop each table.
David Rutkauskas, his wife, Camille, and father, Otto, founded the fast-casual restaurant in Tulsa, Okla., in 1996. Clearly, the three are smart business folk. Camille's now counts more than 100 franchises in 24 states.
The paninis ($7.50) are on target, grilled on focaccia bread. The turkey habanero is made with a splashy mango-habanero dressing. The Napa Valley Chicken includes grilled chicken breast and sun-dried tomato pesto, and a pesto-mayo balsamic glaze helps make up the Veganini.
Hot or cold wraps ($6.39-$6.99) mostly use grilled chicken breast, ranging from the Mexican Daredevil on jalapeno-cheddar tortilla with roasted poblano dressing and barbecue sauce, to the Bangkok Thai on Spanish tortilla accompanied by a sesame Oriental dressing.
Sandwich offerings vary from ham, chicken to tuna. Most orders come with tri-colored tortilla chips and fresh salsa, which is heavy on the tomato side.
Same for the pizza, rich in marinara. But the 9-inch flatbreads are a steal at $5.99-$6.99.
Salads, coffees and several smoothies also are available, and Camille's also shares an al fresco dining area with neighbor Firehouse Subs.
