Birth date and place: October 1956 in Sumter.

Residence: James Island.

Family: Husband, Steve; two sons, Beau and Brad.

Occupation: Owner, A Shop of Our Own, West Ashley.

Education: Fort Johnson High School and an associate degree in science from Trident Technical College.

Job description: As a shop owner, I do the buying, marketing, accounting and customer service for my antiques and gift shop.

most fulfilling aspect of my job: My customers. I have the nicest customers.

Talents/Hobbies: Making stained glass, painting and currently taking an upholstery class.

Favorite television show: "Grey's Anatomy."

Favorite local place to eat: Mondo's Delite on James Island.

Accomplishment of which I am most proud: My children.

My favorite way to relax or de-stress: Sunning on the beach.

When I was younger, I wanted to be: A dancer.

Worst habit: Procrastination.

Something I like about James Island: I love the local history and architecture of Charleston.

Favorite local charity: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. My mom is a survivor.
