Glitter adds special touch to holiday decorations

This holiday season, the best-dressed ornaments are wearing glitter.
Not since the 1950s and 1960s has so much glitter been used during the holidays.
The tiny bits of light-reflecting material are shining on glass, beads and polka-dotted ribbon to create fresh interpretations of ornaments. The striking brilliance of glitter is helping draw attention to Christmas trees, gifts, mantels, wreaths and windows.
Ornament makers want their creations to inspire people to be happy. Glitter, and to some extent polka dots, are being used to help meet that objective.
