Christmas tree growers worry about this season's sales

The Post and Courier
Saturday, November 29, 2008

Kim Yerich hasn’t raised prices at his Christmas tree farm in about five years.

With the increase in fertilizer, fuel and labor costs, it might seem that raising prices would be the smart thing to do.

But Yerich doesn’t want to do anything that might discourage families from coming out to choose and chop their trees at his farm west of Goose Creek. He knows that times are tough and people are looking for ways to cut expenses.

Will they stay away this year?

“We are hoping they won’t, but we are concerned,” says Yerich, who opened Thanksgiving Day.
