Charleston opens holiday season with new Web site

The Post and Courier
Friday, November 28, 2008

The holiday Yuletide season in Charleston is being promoted starting this week with campaigns sponsored by the city and by individual arts and charitable groups.

The Coastal Community Foundation is getting out the word through "Charleston Holiday Magic," its campaign to promote the entertainment in the city, with a new Web site at charlestonholidaymagic.com. And the city of Charleston has joined in the effort by sending out e-mails with their holiday calendar information and a city Web site called Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston that lists events. There's also a link to the calendar from the city's home page, charlestoncity.info.

And in another effort to help out struggling arts groups, all the performing groups in town staging productions during the holidays — from dance to comedies to serious plays — will have representatives selling tickets and giving out information about performances from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Marion Square Holiday Craft Market.

Read more in Saturday's editions of the Post and Courier and see Sunday's Arts and Travel section for a full listing of events.

Editor's note: Since this item was published, the hours for ticket sales and performance information have expanded. The new times are reflected in the text.
