Intruder shot while entering house
GREEN POND — A man who was at home when someone tried to break into his residence on Monday apparently shot the burglar as he was coming through a bedroom window, authorities said.
Colleton County deputies arrived about 9:30 a.m. at the home on Turkey Hill Lane and learned that the homeowner had fired his gun at someone coming in the window but found no suspects on the property. They later got a call from a woman nearby who said her 15-year-old grandson had been shot, Sheriff George Malone said.
The boy was taken to Colleton County Regional Medical Center, treated and taken to jail, Malone said. He and a 16-year-old boy and an adult were all charged with second-degree burglary, the sheriff said.
Malone identified the adult as as Larry Speaks, 20, of Green Pond.

I'd much prefer he had managed to shoot the adult, but you take what you can get. Maybe next time.

Good for you Mr Homeowner. Shoot and ask questions later. How about the 20yr old sending the younger one into the house first? What a brave lad.

At least the owner had something to shoot, must have been small caliber though. Try a 40 S&W with 155 grain JHP next time and the police WILL find the criminal still on the property.

Score one for the homeowner, for a change!
I'm sure the homeowner is not happy about having to shoot someone, but he did what he had to do.
Which PI lawyer is going to take the case of the 15 year old? Believe it or not, there are cases like that on the books.

This is exactly what more citizens need to do. People are always complaining about the Court system and the Police but what do they do for themselves? If more honest citizens shot these thug robbers they would think twice about committing crimes .

Get ready for the liberal whiners, people. They'll be complaining that homeowner didn't have to shoot the kid, that is was unnecessary force, and, after all, the kid is just a kid and not responsible for his actions. TOUGH. The kid and his two co-conspirators should count themselves lucky. I am pretty sure the gun had more than one bullet in it. They will be back at it again in a few weeks or months of probation or juvenile hall and maybe the next guy will be a better shot.

On the positive side for the apologists, there's 3 more potential voters for the ACLU to sign up. I'm curious, does anyone know how many more fellow voters the ACLU has found for us behind bars. This is so exciting.

It's a good thing that this homeowner didn't trade his gun in for a Wal-Mart gift card! :-)

Yea, had he thrown a gift card at the little dirt bag, I doubt he would have achieved the same result...

Good for this guy. I'm glad to see that some homeowners are not scared to protect themselves.
This story does make me think about the man that accidently killed his own son years ago. The boy couldn't get in the house, so instead of waking someone up, he crawled through a window.
I'm glad this was not the case here.

I watched the owner get interviewed on channel 5 last night. It was beautiful. He said the 15 year old should be thanking God he's still alive....that he just got his wake-up call. Well said.

Where are all the usual left wing loonies this fine morning?
I suppose they just have not yet figured out how they can make their arguments look anything but stupid on this one.
Good job Larry!

But, you all know that the bleeding heart liberals are going to cry fowl because he shot a minor. (Boohoo!)
Break into my place, you get shot with something that will definitely kill, not injure.

On a serious note, I'm glad the homeowner protected himself and didn't get hurt or have his property taken.

GetSerious - Did you really read yird's comment? Perhaps you need to go back and take another look at it. You both took a similar, and correct, stance in this issue. For once it looks like everybody who is posting a comment is on the same page.
A man's (or woman's) home is their castle. Break into it and whatever happens to the person breaking in is just tough.
