Edmondston-Alston House TOUR: Celebrate the holiday season with a candlelight tour of the Edmondston-Alston House at 21 East Battery, one of the first dwellings built on Charleston's High Battery.
The Christmas 1860 Candlelight Tours will be 6-8 p.m. Dec. 5 and 12. It will feature interpreters in costume. Tickets are $20 and may by purchased the night of the event. Advance tickets are available at the Edmondston-Alston House for $15. Call 722-7171 or visit www.middletonplace.org.
Summerville Candlelight Christmas Tour of Homes: Flowertown Garden Club sponsors the sights, sounds and spirit of the holidays in six homes in Tea Farm decorated for Christmas by the homeowners and members of the Flowertown Garden Club. Summerville High School football coach John McKissick's den also will be on the tour.
Wreath and bow-making demonstrations, live seasonal music and refreshments. $25 per person.
Tickets will be sold in advance in the Summerville area at Guerin's Pharmacy, Sarah's View, Marigold's, Interiors by Zanell, Ace Hardware on Trolley Road and at each home on the tour 5-8 p.m. Dec. 7. Held rain or shine.

BONSAI CLUB: The Summerville Bonsai Study Group will hold a meeting at 2 p.m. Dec. 14 in the Cuthbert Community Center at the Azalea Park in Summerville. This meeting is the holiday meeting, and no specific program is planned except for cookies and other holiday goodies.
New members are encouraged to attend as a beginner's bonsai course will be held at the January meeting.

Plant photo exhibit: A collection of photographs by artist and pharmacologist Vance Gellert from his eight-month stay in Bolivia and Peru to explore the healing effects of ritual and medicinal plants. "Smoke and Mirrors: A Journey to Healing Knowledge" will remain in the City Gallery until Jan. 10. Visit www.vancegellert.com.
