Police arrest suspect in Summerville shooting
SUMMERVILLE — Summerville Police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting off Gahagan Road Wednesday night.
Byron Christopher Kinsey, 23, is charged with murder in the death of Kyle Robert Bammann, Summerville Police Capt. Jon Rogers said.
Rogers said Kinsey was detained when he reported to the South Carolina Probation and Parole Department today. While he was being processed, they learned that Kinsey had been shot. He was transferred to a local hospital for medical care.
Rogers said they don't know yet if Kinsey's gunshot wound is related to Bammann's death.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said Bammann died from what appears to be multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities said Bammann was shot outside his home at 410 Black Oak Blvd. shortly before 5 p.m. He died in an ambulance while en route to the Medical University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The Summerville Police Department is investigating the shooting.
