Check Advance in North Charleston robbed

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

North Charleston police were searching for a man who robbed a payday-lending business by entering through a hole in the ceiling Tuesday morning.

The man showed up around 8:51 a.m. inside Express Check Advance at 5631 Rivers Ave. as an employee was counting money from the safe, said Spencer Pryor, North Charleston police public information officer. The hole was in the ceiling, near the back of the business.

The man approached the female employee with a revolver and demanded money, Pryor said.

He took an unknown amount and ran out the back door.

Police described the robber as black, about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 to 160 pounds. He wore a black mask and gloves with a black windbreaker, black shirt and black shoes.

Pryor said the woman at the business was transported to Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital with a "non-life-threatening injury."

To report tips, call North Charleston police at 554-5700 or Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.

I hope the violent criminal is caught, tried, convicted and put to death.

I also hope someone brings charges against the Check Advance business as those places rob citizens ever day of the week.

Hole in the ceiling? That sounds like an inside job. Regardless of that, if this guy has the balls to climb through the ceiling to rob someone....hahaha he deserves to get paid.

BTW, no one really cares if a check cashing place gets robbed. I say good for them.

Keepitreal2008,

Reading comprehension is valuable in life. Get some.

I said the ROBBER DESERVES TO GET PAID if he's going through all that trouble (a hole in the ceiling).

Obviously, you're the moron who just couldn't get it. Not to mention the same moron who can't figure out how to turn "Caps Lock" off even though it has its own key on a keyboard.

And for the record, my family members all work for respectable businesses...not check cashing (take everything you have) fake businesses.

A hole in the ceiling? Sounds fishy. All crooks should target the payday advance places.

First of all, I work for this company and when responsible human beings use our service then everything is good! Thats another conversation completely though!
Secondly, the girl did get hurt! The guy hit her with the gun... She is lucky to be alive.
It's not about who got robbed, its about the fact that someone was robbed and hurt because of seemingly ignorant people who can't just get a job!
This IS a respectable company thank you very much. My children and family are taken care of because of this company! The person who stated that you would feel differently if it had been your family is exactly right, you would, no matter where they worked!
I think you're all ignorant sub-human beings for saying such nasty things as it pertains to a very serious matter!!! Shame on all of you!!!
