PAWLEYS ISLAND - An 84-year-old man has died and his wife was injured in a fire at their home at Pawleys Island.
Georgetown County Coroner Kenny Johnson told The Sun News of Myrtle Beach that Theodore Irwin died of smoke inhalation at Waccamaw Community Hospital early Monday.
His wife, Lois Irwin, was being treated at the hospital.
Midway Fire Department spokesman Bob Beebe says the couple was in bed when the fire started early Monday. Beebe says the cause of the fire has not been determined.
The State Law Enforcement Division, Georgetown County Sheriff's Office and Midway Fire Department are investigating.
There were no other injuries.
