Benefitfocus opens new office in Greenville

Staff report
Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Charleston-based software maker Benefitfocus on Tuesday marked the opening of its new offices in Greenville, where it plans to add 200 employees to its existing Upstate payroll over the next few years.

The 27,000-square-foot building near the airport and interstate highway system includes more conference space and more powerful Internet connections, the company said.

"We are enthusiastic about our future within Greenville," said Shawn Jenkins, president and chief executive. "Relocating to this much larger building will greatly facilitate our expansion and growth as a company."

The new office is at 1016 Woods Crossing Road.

Benefitfocus specializes in health-care benefits software. Founded eight years ago, the Daniel Island company has grown from a small Charleston customer base to working in all 50 states and 26 countries.

Oh Dear, I wonder if Benefitfocus is looking to abandon the City of Charleston and move to a better place.
