Army orders more armored vehicles

Friday, November 14, 2008

Ladson-based armored truck maker Force Protection Inc. said Thursday that it received an additional order for 16 more vehicles under an existing contract with the U.S. Army.

The cost of the Buffalo A2 vehicles will not exceed $15.5 million, the company said. The heavy-duty blast-resistant vehicles are to be delivered before July 2009.

Also, Force Protection said changes to a separate contract call for the sale and delivery of 14 Buffalos to the U.K. Ministry of Defence. That deal will not exceed $18.6 million.
