Rose Hill Drive
Just last year, Denver trio Rose Hill Drive opened shows for rock superacts including The Who, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Black Crowes and more. They were hailed as one of the "Top 10 Artists to Watch" in 2007 by Rolling Stone and recorded its second album, "Moon Is the New Earth."
Formed nearly five years ago, Rose Hill Drive burst out of Denver before it could even make a full-length record. With its members still in their teens and early 20s, word about the bluesy rock band had spread fast and Rose Hill Drive found itself touring the country and opening for bands such as Robert Randolph and The Family Band.
The group's simple, yet wild brand of classic rock 'n' roll made them a favorite of Pete Townshend, who hand-selected the band to open The Who's 2007 U.S. tour.
Rose Hill Drive will appear Saturday at The Pour House, 1977 Maybank Hwy., with Colour Revolt and The Lonely H.
Tickets are $10 at the door or can be purchased online at etix.com.

Matt Keating
Singer and songwriter Matt Keating isn't necessarily breaking any molds with his folk/rock style, but he isn't slipping into the cracks of obscurity, either.
In fact, the New York-based Keating helped create the modern folk/rock phenomenon.
Getting his start in the early '90s, Keating became somewhat of a pioneer for the now-overpopulated genre. His folk/country/rock style has been seen as innovative, and his influences in the genre remain to this day. His songs tell honest stories: some are encouraging, some are humorous.
Keating will perform Friday night at The Village Tavern, 1055 Johnnie Dodds Blvd. Chris Masterson of Son Volt will also perform. Tickets are $5 at the door or at www.villagetavern.com. For information, call 884-6311.
Christabel and the Jons
Christabel and the Jons tiptoe between genres and generations with its roots bluegrass/folk style. Vocalist Christa DeCicco possesses a voice that's rich in swing and jazz. Her sultriness carries a sweet innocence heard echoing through the Appalachians.
The Tennessee quartet will perform tonight with Mouse Fire at The Tin Roof, 1117 Magnolia Road. Visit www.myspace.com/christabelmusic, www.myspace.com/westashleytinroof or call 571-0775 for more information.
Saint Sweetheart
Taking a lot of notes from post-punk, art rock and early alternative rock acts such as Echo & the Bunnymen, Television and Morrissey, Florida's Saint Sweetheart step bravely into a scared sound that's deceivingly difficult to replicate.
Saint Sweetheart will perform Friday at the Tin Roof .Visit www.myspace.com/saintsweetheart for info.

Back in 1985, when I was just 10-years-old, my buddy Andy Nelms and I spent the entire summer trying to catch lizards. Every time we would catch one, we would put it in a container, label it and observe the lizard's behavior. Fast forward 25 years later, and wouldn't you know it, I still make poop jokes.
