OYSTER ROAST: Nov. 7, 6:30-9:30 p.m. The Charitable Society of Charleston’s 16th annual Oyster Roast has upgraded to a new venue and will add The Embers to its program. Join in on an evening of shaggin’ to one of the South’s favorite beach music ensembles while shucking local oysters. There will be hot dogs and chili, as well. $25. Food and non-alcoholic beverages included in ticket price. Proceeds benefit the Lowcountry Food Bank. AND RECYCLED FEEDERS: Nov. 15, 2 p.m. The class begins with an education segment then continues with a walk through the wetlands to identify birds by looking at their size, shape, marking and beak. ‘A LOWCOUNTRY GUIDE WITH OLIVER BUCKLES’ LECTURE: Nov. 22, 2 p.m. As part of The Coastal Plain Palmetto Trail lecture series, Olive Buckles of the Palmetto Conservation Foundation will present a slide show on the Trail and have the newest “Palmetto Trail Guide” available for purchase. Conceived in 1994 and slated for completion in the early 21st century, the 425-mile Mountains-to-the-Sea Palmetto Trail eventually will meander from the Blue Ridge Mountains in South Carolina’s northwest corner to the Atlantic Ocean. FISHING

2ND ANNUAL OWEN PERRY MEMORIAL INSHORE TOURNAMENT: Nov. 7-8, Captain’s registration is 6-7 p.m. at Fripp Island Marina, 201 Tarpon Blvd., Fripp Island. Fishing takes place Nov. 8, and all fish must be weighed at the Fripp Island Marina before 5 p.m. Entry fee is $250 per boat, $25 for each additional person. The tournament benefits Camp Rainbow. MARINE RESOURCES: Nov. 13, 10 a.m. at Fort Johnson on James Island. The Marine Resources Advisory Committee to the S.C. Natural Resources Board will meet to discuss the snapper/grouper fishery management plan, a regional in-water sea turtle monitoring program and the standardization of methods to measure fish. 11TH ANNUAL LOWCOUNTRY TROUT TOURNAMENT: Nov. 21-22. Registration and captain’s meeting 6-8 p.m. on Nov. 21 at Haddrell’s Point Tackle and Supply in West Ashley. Fee is 35.00 per angler. Fishing hours are from midnight Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday. Weigh-in will be 4-4:30 p.m. at the Wappoo Cut Boat Landing. Prizes include $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third. BOATING

24TH ANNUAL INTRACOASTAL CHRISTMAS REGATTA: Nov. 29. This boat parade help promote awareness of children in need in Horry Country. The curtain rises on the parade at the Little River Inlet at 5 p.m. and travels south, arriving at Dock Holidays Marina at 7 p.m. Gather your family to watch the parade as it passes various viewing areas along the waterway. SURF & SAND

LIFE STORY OF MIKI DORA BOOK SIGNING: Nov. 15, 5-10 p.m. At The Bridge Gallery, 83 Center St., Folly Beach. Author David Rensin visited five continents over four years to produce an oral/narrative biography titled “ALL FOR A FEW PERFECT WAVES: The Audacious Life and Legend of Rebel Surfer Miki Dora.” Rensin will sign copies of his book and vintage surf art by Glen Martin will be on display.
