MOUNT PLEASANT RECREATION DEPARTMENT WINTER SPORTS REGISTRATION: Registration for the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department's winter sports is ongoing. Winter Sports include the new youth wrestling program, the new 5th grade basketball program, youth basketball, FUNdamental basketball, youth senior basketball, unified basketball and unified swimming. MONCKS CORNER BASKETBALL: Registration will be held November 3-21 at Moncks Corner Town Hall for boys and girls ages 7-14. Birthdate cut-off is Feb. 28, 2009 which means your age on Feb. 28, 2009 is your playing age. Cost is $15 for town residents and $35 for out of town residents. SNOW SKIING AND BOARDING: Staff of Charleston Ski Club will provide introduction to skiing and boarding with a class on consecutive Wednesdays on Nov. 5 and 12 from 6-7:30 p.m. Classes are open to the public free of charge. Sign up prior to Noon on Nov. 4 at either Time-Out Sports or by calling Mike Hadbavny, Training Director at 556-6504. Three learn to ski trips are planned that will include on-slope professional instruction on Dec. 5-7, 18-20 and Feb. 20-22. Fees to be paid by participants. HANAHAN YOUTH SPORTS TENNIS LESSONS, BASKETBALL, WRESTLING AND FLAG FOOTBALL REGISTRATION: Register through Nov. 21. TENNIS LESSONS will be offered for ages 3 years to Adults. Classes will be instructed by Bruce Sibley. Lessons are twice a week and the monthly fee is $35 for ages 3-5, $45 for ages 6-9, $65 for ages 10-16. Adult Beginner classes will be $45.00. Bruce will hold a free Tennis clinic on Oct. 20, 23, and 25 at the tennis courts across from Hanahan Middle School starting at 6 p.m. BASKETBALL for ages 4-17 yrs. The fee to register is $30 for Hanahan residents; $50 non-residents. Practice will begin in December and games start in January. Age is as of Feb. 28. WRESTLING for ages 4-16 yrs. UPWARD BASKETBALL AND CHEERLEADING AT FORT JOHNSON BAPTIST CHURCH: Registration is being held for boys and girls 5k-12 grade. Early registration is $55 for basketball and $60 for cheerleading. PRO LEVEL SPORTS off-season pitching program: For jv and varsity baseball players will begin on Dec. 2. Pitchers will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays for three weeks in December and three weeks in January, leading up to the start of baseball tryouts. Professional pitchers Steven Jackson, Payton Tweddale, Ryan Basner and Jeff Ridgway will serve as instructors and speakers, along with Pro Level instructors.
