GEORGETOWN — Dem Boys, with two blue marlin releases on Thursday, continues to hold the lead in the Georgetown Blue Marlin Tournament, the second event in the 2008 South Carolina Governor's Cup Billfishing Series.

Dem Boys, which fishes out of Toler's Cove in Mount Pleasant, has accumulated 1,200 points, 200 ahead of second-place Evan's B, which has one blue marlin and two sailfish releases. Chasin is in third place with 700 points for releasing a white marlin and two sailfish.

More than 40 of the 53 boats entered in the tournament fished Friday and released nine billfish, including six blue marlin. Heading into today's final day of fishing, participants have caught and released 22 billfish — 12 blue marlin, three white marlin and seven sailfish.

Thirty-five boats still have today left as a fish day, with participants allowed to fish two out of three days.
