Throwdown tourney looking for teams

The second annual Charleston Braves' Chucktown Throwdown Father's Day Frenzy will be held June 13-15.

Beef O'Brady's captured the regular season baseball championship of the Mount Pleasant Recreation League's 9-10 National Division. This year's competition includes brackets for traveling teams from 9-and-under through 18-U and a bracket for all-star teams, ages 10, 11 and 12. The West Ashley fields will host the 9-12 age groups, while the John's Island Complex will host the 13-15 age groups.

Registration ranges between $350-$425, depending on the age group. The age determination date is May 1, 2008.

The 16-U teams will play the First Baptist Complex on James Island, while The 18-U team will play at James Island High School.

Developmental league formed

Lowcountry Soccer in cooperation with the Goose Creek Recreation Commission is offering a summer 6v6 soccer league for boys and girls ages 14-18.

The league consist of Under-16 and U18 divisions and will be played on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Dogwood Park in Goose Creek.

The cost is $60 per player, and registration will last through June 4. Register at lowcountrysoccer.net under the Youth Soccer tab.
