The former state treasurer, who is scheduled to check into prison by May 29 after pleading guilty to a federal cocaine charge, says that he wasn’t an addict and that he hopes to run for public office again.

He was NOT a drug addict??????????? Another one that lies and lies and lies. All I can say to you Thomas Ravenel is: I am one that doesn't buy that crap, and you will never get my vote again, even if you run for Dog Catcher!!

I am amazed that Ravenel passes judgment on the morals of others in his drug circle. At one time he states that he refused to do coke with two girls because they were too young and then states that he may have "made a move on her". He also states that he quit going to one of the bars where he used to get his cocaine because it was turning into a bad place (and when did that happen, Thomas?). It is common on these boards to refer to drug abusers and dealers as "dirt bags". He belongs in that category as well.

Hell, he'll probably get elected mayor. Rep. Clyburn just added to his staff a man convicted last year for soliciting bribes. I guess he figured he might as well have somebody with experience

Well if he should get elected again we will all know he's crooked, a liar and a criminal up front. He'll probably get elelcted with all the drug cartel money at his disposal.

He has to be "a nut case" to really believe he could get elected to anything ever. Of course the infamous Annette Young was drunk coming out of Oscars in Summerville, ran into a tree and has been reelected every time thereafter. So maybe people just don't care. Heck, Senator Scott from Summerville, was picked up on a dui few weeks ago, threatened several deputies with their jobs, was extremely profane in recorded phone calls to his wife demanding that she get a judge to release him in the middle of the night, and heck he'll probably get reelected too. Go figure!

When will the state government put into legislation a law that forbids anyone with a felony crime from ever being able to pursue a job as a public official?
This would stop him and most of the other members from being able to run for office ...

I'm not sure what kind of entrapment you think may have taken place - no one made him snort cocaine. He appears to think that he is morally superior to those with whom he did coke.....bad case of denial. He will still be a millionaire when he gets out of prison (if not his money, then his family's), so he really won't have to worry about getting a job anyway.

They named the Ravenel Bridge after Arthur--the little white lines in the middle...well, those are named after his son.

that joke is sooo old. Wasn't funny then, is'nt funny now. Since WHEN has part of a bridge been named after anybody before.
