Sandridge teen dies in single-car crash

SANDRIDGE — A teenager was killed Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle accident on 35 Mile Road.
Odessa Banks, 17, of Sandridge, died within a few miles of her home after the accident about 12:40 p.m., said Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury. He said Banks lost control of her 1999 Pontiac sedan, which went off the left side of the road and flipped.
Banks, who was not wearing a seat belt, was partially ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, Salisbury said. He said her 15-month-old brother was in the back seat and was taken to Medical University Hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

well at least this baby appeared to be restrained in a car seat.
how many more stupid teens have to die before they stop giving the licenses
this one clearly was caused by excessive speed. you have to be driving very fast to flip. and no seatbelt
whats wrong with these parents not teaching their kids
these parents may lose their teenage child and possibly their baby

My, my, archdude... we are quick to judge this morning, aren't we? Perhaps those of us who would like the driving age raised are just taking a conservative position... it isn't just the teenagers that are in danger if they aren't ready yet. Funny, I have a great job, normal social life, and loads of compassion and I still see the need to at least look at the option of revising the current driving laws. I'm only 25 so I can clearly remember the frequent lapses in judgement I had in my teen years... and I was one of the "good kids". And the issue had nothing to do with ethnicity, thanks.

why dont you get a life and a job. the driving laws on teens are too lax plan and simple
teens are too stupid at 15 too drive. look at the number of accidents they cause. i live across the highway from a high school. i see these dangerous manaics on the road every single day.4 out of 5 school days a week theres a crash. 6 kids from that school have died. who is to blame. the kids are. the oldest was 18 and shot straight out ignoring the red light and ran straight under a big rig. my husband saw it called the cops and pulled into the exxon as he was in the turning lane opposite side of the highway. no it wasnt on here. the boy killed himself and two other kids.
kids in another car who were following that car and witnesses on the scene said the kids were leaning out of the cat cussing at drivers who stopped for the light we he upped and drove down the wrong side of the road turned right and bang dead.
the driving age needs to be raised. to at least 18 most kids arent ready at 15. they arent mature enough to understand the responsibility or how dangerous it is. i have worked with teens who couldnt wait to get their permits nad drive. they thought it was fun and every one has to do it. one kid said the faster the better. he was killed 6 weeks after he got his license.
i did nothing to be attacked. this kid in this story flipped the car and was ejected speed was a factor get over it.

A friend of mine had low air pressure in a tire and flipped his car after that tire went into a rut created by a tractor trailer. He lived. Car was totaled. Speed wasn't a factor because he was only driving maybe 25 in the subdivision.

live across from a high school teens arent book stupid their common sense stupid, they are too busy texting though not mentioned here or playing around ALSO NOT MENTIONED HERE.
many teen drivers believe the other drivers should move out of their way.
i dont not have issues and i am mad that you losers who dont know me could say that get a life you cows
i voiced my opinion and was attacked this is an opinion forum get over it this is my opinion teenagers shouldnt drive. not until they have had defensive driving classes and proper driving lessons from a state accredited driving school. people who know how to teach. too many adults cant drive and shouldnt drive either.
for the record im not a licensed driver and thats by choice. i do drive i have a permit. i drive with my husband on non busy roads. i can drive and drive very well i follow all posted speed limits and other driving laws i dont cut people off nor do i pass to close. i respect the roads and the other drivers. because i wasnt a teen driver. teenagers not all of them but most think their invincible and that others will get out of their way. my husband and i have been tailgated by a few and then followed and threatened. i speak from facts despite what you judgemental freaks say.
i have been through alot. set on fire is only one small piece. i do not hate anyone. i just dislike certain types of people. specially the types that hurt me. get over it it is an opinion forum

Yall are so funny.....I view jane in that same category...looney....all hispanic men are out to get her, kill her, rape her, spit on her, grope her, call her nasty names. She has had so many bad experience with hispanics I think she's a magnet.

i choose to not drive. my husband drives for us. i have health issues that make it so i may not be the best of drivers. i have had a heart attack. i would rather not risk being behind the wheel and my heart problem flairs.
i choose to not put other drivers at risk. unlike some people out there
as far as my mental state i am perfectly sane and not the cause of my problems. these thing dont happen daily or weekly in fact their rare and im not even in the car half the time. this board was for discussing the article not attacking the posters get a life.
