About one-fifth of Palmetto State teachers will go through training sessions beginning this summer in an effort to curb the number of educators having sexual relations with students. At least 10,000 South Carolina teachers, administrators, guidance counselors and school nurses will go through the Stewards of Children program developed by Darkness to Light, a national nonprofit headquartered in Charleston. Officials hope to offer the training sessions to more South Carolina teachers in the future. "Incidents of misconduct represent only a tiny fraction of our teaching force, but even one incident is one too many," said state Education Superintendent Jim Rex said in a statement. "We've got to stay vigilant. The education department will pay $30,000 for the training sessions, and Darkness to Light has pledged $132,700. Read more in tomorrow's Post and Courier. |

how about teach the kids too. many kids lie to get teachers in trouble dont forget that
i agree with the training but middle school and up the kids need to be taught that certain things they do and say arent acceptable either.
girls especially lead teachers on and promise stuff for passing grades

put male teachers with all male classes and female teeachers with all female classes and make sure the teachers are straight.

I would be completely pissed off if I was a teacher and I was told that I had to go through training to learn how to not have sex with my students. This is just ridiculous. What's next - are they gonna make every President go through training how not to play with interns?
