The Post and Courier
Traffic backs up on I-26 East bound near the rest stop at College Park Road after a concrete truck rolled onto a car at the entrance ramp for the rest stop Monday.
Two women have died in an accident where a cement truck crashed into a car and then partially filled it with cement in an accident on I-26 near College Park Road, authorities said.
At 3:45 p.m., a red Honda going eastbound on I-26 abruptly changed lanes in front of a cement truck, said Cpl. Paul Brouthers of the Highway Patrol.
He said the driver of the cement truck tried to compensate for the Honda's lane change, and crashed into the Honda and landed on top of it. Cement then partially filled the inside of the car, said Pete Rogers with the Charleston Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad.
Two women in the front seat were killed. A third woman in the backseat was taken by helicopter to MUSC and is in critical condition, Brouthers said.
The driver of the cement truck was taken to Trident Hospital; his condition is unknown.
Rogers said about 20 rescue workers were digging with shovels to remove the cement from the car and then had to cut the car away from the passengers.
"I've never seen anything like this before," Rogers said.

A concrete truck hit the car. The car was in the passing lane and was about to pass the rest area and was trying to go to the rest area and got smashed by the concrete truck. The car swerved but it was too late.
Please be careful....

This is such a sad story! Not a surprise though..I agree with TP "Slow the F down, shut the F up on the cell, and keep your F'ing hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Pretty simple, really."

I finally got through there. Doesn't look good, they were holding up a big sheet in front of someone.

No mention of whether or not the driver of the Red Honda was caught and/or charged....I hope this stays with them...I started a new job today, and realized that this city is full of stupid people, and most of them are either going 45 on the interstate, talking on a cell phone, or about 90 mph, and talking on a cell phone. The other half are texting. I'd rather hang glide to work.

Some Truth...did we read the same article?
The driver of the honda was not "caught nor charged" but instead died in the accident. And it is such a tragedy. I can't imagine being covered in concrete.
And I agree...I had someone swerve and almost hit me yesterday and when I looked she was texting. I was so angry--but I don't think she even realized what happened, she glanced back down again.

I can't believe the ignorance and stupidity of some people. TP, Jassy and the other primitive, dumb***es posting comments here, you really need to learn not to talk. I just hope that you can get over your narcissistic ways one day and think about how you would feel if you were killed today and immature children were hiding behind a computer screen badmouthing you.
A mother and her child (the other twin is in the hospital after today) lost their lives driving home from school. Show a little more respect for the dead.
And Dreamer, reading the article before you go and embarrass yourself again.

Readers,
Regardless of your position on hypothetical driving situations, I want to ask for your thoughts and prayers.
The two young girls in the car were twins attending my school. Though I did not know them personally, our community is small and the loss of one twin and her mother (the driver) impacts all of us.
I sincerely ask for your prayers for the survivor, her family, her friends, and for our community.
Thank-you.

No ill intent was with the statement, it was a clarification. Too bad I can't say the same thing about some of the others comments. Unfortunately opinions are like a**holes, everyone has one.
The bottom line is WE ALL can be more careful and attentive to our own driving skills......and my father always taught me to not only drive for yourself, but everyone else and be a defensive/attentive driver.
My thoughts are with this family and their friends. Very sad as well as for the truck driver as well.

I cannot even begin to tell you how this news saddens me. These twins were the brightest of the bright. My prayers go out to this family and also the driver of the truck.
