--Fisher DeBerry, former head football coach at the Air Force Academy, has retired to his beach house on the Isle of Palms.

--Ralph Friedgen, head football coach at Maryland, owns a beach house on the Isle of Palms.

--Cal McCombs, former head coach at VMI and now a scout for the Denver Broncos, lives on the Isle of Palms.

--Al Skinner, head basketball coach at Boston College, owns a beach house in Wild Dunes.

--Tom O'Brien, head football coach at North Carolina State, owns a home on Daniel Island.

--Paul Maguire, football analyst for ABC and ESPN, owns a home on the Isle of Palms.

--Gene Budig, former president of the American League, lives in Wild Dunes.

Shoot your age

--Federal Judge Sol Blatt Jr. of Charleston shot his age last Saturday at the Country Club of Charleston. An 86 at 86! Not too shabby, considering he qualifies for the super senior tees but refuses to use them.

--There are 10 women with the last name "Kim" in the LPGA Media Guide.

--Eight of them played in last year's Ginn Tribute Hosted by Annika at RiverTowne Country Club.

--An amateur golfer's chances of making a hole-in-one are 1 in 12,750.

--Despite decades of improvement in clubs and balls, the average score for the amateur golfer remains the same: 100 for 18 holes.

--Only 10 percent of all golfers can break 100, and 10 percent of them are lying.
