North Charleston authorities have reopened a section of upper Dorchester Road after an 18-wheeler truck hit a utility pole knocking power lines down across the road at around 1 p.m.
The truck driver was transported to Trident Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, North Charleston Fire Department public information officer Bianca Sancic said.
Traffic was held up in both directions as a result of the accident. Power was being restored and only a few small black-out pockets remained at 3 p.m.
The accident took place near the intersection of Dorchester Road and Whitwill Blvd., near the St. James Crossing neighborhood, Sancic said.
