Famous Joe's becomes more famous

Famous Joe's

A good friend who grew up in West Ashley always told me that some of the best wings he'd had were offered by a neighborhood bar in West Ashley, where on Fridays the taste and more importantly the price couldn't be beat.

I'm happy to say nothing's changed much at Famous Joe's. Once located in a different part of the Indigo Village along Savannah Highway (where Five Guys Burgers and Fries currently resides), a move to the other side of the shopping center hasn't changed the character of the popular bar.

As inherent with any 'neighborhood bar,' the customers who frequent Famous Joe's are mostly West Ashley residents looking for a place to wind down after a long day, or more importantly, after a long week where they can enjoy live music on the weekends. With friendly personalities like Stacy behind the bar (who preferred not to have her last name in print, as to avoid any 'stalkers,' she said with a laugh), the self-proclaimed 'best bartender in town,' Famous Joe's gives customers that personal touch.

Famous Joe's features two pool tables, over a dozen TVs for your sports viewing needs, a digital jukebox, both large booths, and high standing tables and chairs. And of course, there is a sizable menu, on which are the wings that so impressed my friend.

I'm still not exactly sure what made Joe so famous, but I am confident in seconding Famous Joe's reputation as one of West Ashley's favorite places.
