Dinners/Events

Wine dinner: Thursday at Ted's Butcherblock, 334 East Bay St. Four-course dinner with Italian wine distributor Vinifera. Learn to make fresh mozzarella and taste Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. $40. Reservations required; call 577-0094 or visit www.tedsbutcherblock.com.

Wine dinner: Cypress hosts a four-course dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday featuring the wines of Oregon's Adelsheim vineyards and winemaker David Adelsheim. $95, excluding tax and gratuity. Reservations required; call 727-0111.

Tax season celebration: Tristan will host a "Toast to Better Times" on April 15 to celebrate the end of tax season. From 5:30 until close, the restaurant will offer a complimentary glass of champagne for accounting professionals (presenting a business card) or guests who can show proof they filed 2007 returns on time. Also, three flights of wine — white, red and dessert wines — will be offered at $10.40 each, and a combination of any two regular menu appetizers will be $10.99. Class 2: How wine is made, California labels, Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Cab Merlot and Syrah wines.

Class 3: How Champagne is made, Alsace, Champagne, Burgundy.

Class 4: Loire, Bordeaux, Cotes du Rhone.
