6 join Duffy on Citadel AD search committee

Citadel president Lt. Gen. John Rosa has announced the names of six individuals who will join U.S. District Court Judge Patrick Michael Duffy on the school's search committee to find a new athletic director.
Duffy, Citadel class of 1965, will head the committee and will be joined by Citadel graduates Tommy McQueeney, Xavier Starkes, Henry Johnson and Tom O'Brien; William Sharbrough III, The Citadel's faculty athletics representative; and Brenda Carter, a former associate athletic director at Georgia Southern who served on The Citadel's last AD search committee.
McQueeney ('74) is chairman of the athletics committee on The Citadel's Board of Visitors; Starkes ('84) is a former Citadel basketball player, ex-member of the Board of Visitors and current member of The Citadel Foundation Board; Johnson ('75) also is a former member of the Board of Visitors; and O'Brien ('78) is a former Citadel football player who is president of The Citadel Brigadier Foundation.
Current athletic director Les Robinson will retire as of June 30.
College golf
Art Sellinger, a two-time World Long Drive Champion, will conduct a clinic at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awendaw to kick off the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Golf Tournament.
The 15-team tournament runs Sunday-Tuesday, with gates opening at 10 a.m. and the first tee times starting at 10:30 a.m. The tournament and clinic are free and open to the public.
Seven of the 15 teams are ranked in the top 25 in the country and 12 are in the top 50, led by No. 9 Florida.
In addition to Florida, defending champion Wake Forest will be joined in the field by South Carolina, Clemson, College of Charleston, North Carolina State, Duke, Virginia Tech, Auburn, Louisiana State, Central Florida, Baylor, Lamar, Augusta State and Kentucky.
