Bike ride set after the big bridge run
For local cyclists, the day after the Cooper River Bridge Run and Walk has become a cycling tradition.
The Coastal Cyclists Spring Century, aka "The After the Bridge Run Ride," will be held April 6. A 100-mile "century" ride will start and end at Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island. The 100-mile ride starts at 8 a.m., and the 73- and 30-mile rides at 8:30 a.m.
The event, which raises money for the Palmetto Cycling Coalition, is capped at 500 cyclists. Save money by registering before Saturday. Preregistration fees are $30 for a single bike and $50 for a tandem (respectively, it's $5 and $10 more after Saturday). Fees include rest stops and a barbecue lunch by Sticky Fingers served between noon and 3 p.m.
Early packet pickup will be at the Charleston Bicycle Company 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 4-5.
