College of Charleston athletic director Joe Hull will use a search committee to find a successor to baseball coach John Pawlowski, who accepted the head coaching job at Auburn last week.

"We've had an initial meeting, so we're moving forward," Hull said Wednesday. "We're moving as fast as we can. We don't have a timetable, but we do want to move swiftly."

Joining Hull on the committee are Laura Lageman, Associate director of athletics; Keith Merritt, director of academic support; Josh Bryson, director of operations and facilities; Bobby Marlowe, chairman of the board of trustees; Mac Burdette, town administrator for Mount Pleasant; and Tom Hallberg, member of the board of directors of the Cougar Club.

Hull said interviews were in the process of being scheduled. He declined to discuss specific candidates, other than associate head coach, recruiting coordinator and pitching coach Scott Foxhall.

"I promised Scott from the start that he will be interviewed," Hull said. "Scott was a finalist from the start."

South Carolina assistant Monte Lee, like Foxhall a former Cougar standout, is also expected to interview.

In addition to Foxhall, others Charleston may interview include longtime North Carolina assistant Chad Holbrook, and Clemson associate head coach Tom Riginos.

Hull said he has received more than 50 applications for the Cougars' head coaching job.

"We've gotten a very strong response," Hull said. "We've got an outstanding pool of candidates."

Meanwhile, Cougars hitting coach Matt Heath is likely to follow Pawlowski to Auburn.

Details of Heath's hiring at Auburn are reportedly close to be finalized.

Why is the AD wasting time with a search committee? Act quickly on this. And if you must use the committee approach, can someone please tell me the significance of a facilities administrator and a town administrator being involved in the search.

13 years of dedication and building up this program is enough for me.
Lee has 1 year of being a recruiting assistant and a volunteer for 6 (not ready for this job yet)

Foxhall is the only choice
