Clemson safety arrested for assault
CLEMSON DeAndre McDaniel’s future in a Clemson uniform is in doubt after his weekend arrest on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
McDaniel, a promising defensive back who played last season as a freshman, was arrested Saturday after an incident with his girlfriend at his off-campus apartment.
According to an incident report provided by the Central Police Department, McDaniel choked his girlfriend, struck her in the face, head and chest with a closed fist, and pushed her down a flight of stairs.
The report said McDaniel’s girlfriend suffered serious bodily injury, including a cervical sprain, soft tissue contusion, facial and chest contusions, and a neck sprain. She was treated at Oconee Memorial Hospital, according to the report.
McDaniel, who played in all 13 games last season while totaling 33 tackles, was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond. The charge is a misdemeanor, with a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The female’s name was not included in the report. The dispute began when McDaniel’s girlfriend “asked him about him exchanging his phone number with another female at a club earlier,” the report stated.
Tigers coach Tommy Bowden said through a team spokesman that he’s aware of the situation and is gathering facts.

Now this is more like it. For a while, the tiggers had forgotten about their long legacy of rapes and assaults. Good to see them getting back into shape. Bring back danny.

I'm sure you have evidence of this orange rug of secrecy...
What do you guys think should happen to him - suspended for a week of practice?

WOW. This was only a misdemeanor! Do you have to actually kill someone for it to be a serious crime. He choked her, punched her several times and threw her down some stairs an it's just a misdemeanor. If I pee'd in the bushes I would have to register as a sex offender. No wonder we are one of the worse states for spousal abuse. SC laws sucks!

If only he had been on the All ACC freshman team or freshman all american, then Tammy would find a way to keep him, but if isn't great, he may cut him loose. Must have been an outsider that let this info out, no one in Pickens County can spell assault, aggravated, and misdemeanor(which it shouldn't be)

He was listed as a starter for next year, so to imply that he's not significant is ridiculous.

Sorry to say you're an idiot but to imply that the CUPD is just there to cover up things is crazy.

And yes there are problems that happen at Clemson just like usc and everywhere!

fjms, You are correct. this could have easily been manslaughter. I took a cheap shot. they don't cover up major felonies. They allow kids to be kids without harassment. Sadly that doesn't happen in Columbia.
