C of C sailors wind up 7th in coed dinghy nationals

Newport, R. I. — The College of Charleston sailing team placed ninth in both A and B divisions to finish seventh Wednesday in the ICSA coed dinghy national championship.

Georgetown took the title with 238 points, Boston College (269) was second and St. Mary's, Md. (276) was third in the 18-team field. Charleston finished with 321 points in the three-day event.

Chris Lash and Steven Barbano skippered the Cougars in A division, placing in the top five in seven races, including a win in the first race, to finish with 163 points. Britney Haas and Katie Weaver crewed with Lash and Barbano.

Nick Martin skippered C of C in B division, with Megan Riddle and Dani Neri serving as crew. Charleston was in the top 10 in 12 of the 18 races and totaled 158 points.
