Father of slain son prepares for hearing
COLUMBIA — David Spry of Charleston County is getting ready for the June 11 parole hearing for a man charged in connection with the 2005 murder of his son Travis.
Christopher Bryant is scheduled to appear before the State Board of Paroles and Pardons. He is was charged with accessory after the fact in the strangling death of Travis Spry.
Bryant was sentenced in August 2007 to 13 years. He had already served more than two years in the Charleston County Detention Center, which was credited toward his sentence.
David Spry and other family members had wanted the maximum 15-year term.
Travis Spry, 17, worked at the Montague Avenue Waffle House in North Charleston. He and Bryant were childhood friends.
Spry disappeared May 23, 2005, after he, Bryant and another man, Travis Lavar Casey, went for a drive around West Ashley.
After a stop, Bryant returned to the car and found Casey choking Spry from the back seat with a rope or possibly a shoelace, authorities said. After the killing, the two men drove to Dorchester County and were accused of leaving Spry's body in the woods.
Bryant's murder charge was dropped for lack of evidence.

Makes no sense whatsoever~
Teens sent away for 10 yrs to an adult prison and murderers walk free, receive mistrials, EMS drivers not punished for causing fatal accidents, long time illegal drug users sent to jail for 10 months, years of embellzement with charges that land you one yr house arrest, DUI that results in murder gets one year house arrest~
and now this murderer is up for parole already???????????

That is sooo sad, and to think, they were childhood friends. Deny him parole. And I bet his "motive" was stupid.
Bryant, you may have gotten off for "lack of evidence" but I hope this haunts you until you take your last breath.

Another fine example of Solicitor Scarlet Wilson's "plea deals". Rapists and Murders out to rape and murder again on Wilson's plea deals but Wilson says she is tough on crime and will stop the revolving door. Solicitor Wilson looks like she is holding the door open for them.

I feel so badly for the families that have to go through these parole hearings year after year.
Eliminate parole, and spare the families this agony.
