Traffic stop leads to drug, gun bust
North Charleston police confiscated drugs, money and a gun Wednesday morning after a traffic stop on West Montague Avenue.
About 10 a.m., an officer tried to stop a 2008 Dodge Caliber near West Montague Avenue and Abby Drive, but the driver did not stop until he reached the end of West Montague Avenue Extension, said Spencer Pryor, police public information officer. The driver and a passenger ran from the Dodge.
Police captured the passenger in an Oakridge Drive residence and recovered a large amount of cash, a .38-caliber revolver and a pound of marijuana worth about $5,000, Pryor said. He said Joshua Porcher, 21, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Police were trying to identify the driver Wednesday night.
