Mike Tuten has his eye on an alligator, an 8-footer, back up a creek off the Savannah River.
If he gets a permit in the state’s random drawing, that’s where the Bostick Plantation hunting guide is headed.

About 1,500 people had applied for 1,000 permits to hunt alligator this fall when S.C. Natural Resources this week closed out the application period for the first season in years. That response didn’t surprise hunting veterans like Tuten.

Absolutely disgusting - people act like they have no idea why these gators are suddenly intruding on their land and it's not sudden. What's sudden is the expansion of neighborhoods and subdivisions. The fact of the matter is this was THEIR land. I've been surrounded by gators on Johns Island and have not once been afraid ... they scurry from me before I can even get close enough to enjoy them. I'm so disappointed in how little people care for wildlife these days. They are part of the ecosystem and we're destroying it all ... for us all.
