Pastor celebrates 20th anniversary

Harbor View Presbyterian Church recently held a surprise celebration in honor of it pastor's 20th year of ordination.

The event was marked at the church's summer hymn sing and potluck supper June 29.

The Rev. Dr. Philip West was ordained July 17, 1988, at Winter Park Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, N.C. The Atlanta native graduated from King College in Bristol, Tenn., and received his Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Ga. He has pastored churches in Tennessee, Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina and became the head of staff at Harbor View Presbyterian Church last August.

West and his wife, Laura, have three children: Ashley, who lives in Bristol; Alexis, who will be a freshman at Clemson University; and Andrew, who will be a junior at James Island Charter High School.
