Palmetto Acoustic Series
Looking for a relaxed atmosphere where you can listen to some music while sipping on wine or coffee? If so, check out tonight's installment of the Palmetto Acoustic Series, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The free series, now in its second year, has moved to Muddy Waters Coffee Bar, 1331 Ashley River Road in West Ashley. There, patrons can enjoy an assortment of free-trade coffee, beer and wine in a "listening room" environment.
Tonight's show will feature 50-minute sets by singer-songwriter Reed Waddle of Destin, Fla., and John Pringle of Charlottesville, Va.

Reggae Nights
On Saturday, spend the evening catching some island vibes with the music of the Eclectic Roots Ensemble at 8:30 p.m.
James Island County Park, 871 Riverland Drive, will play host to the roots- and reggae-influenced band as part of its Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy live music in a natural surrounding. Pizza, ice cream, kettle corn and beverages will be available for sale on-site.
Tickets are $6 for adults and children 12 and under will be admitted free. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Call 795-4386 for more info.
Main Street USA
Fourth of July festivities are over for the year, but the patriotic spirit lingers at the Main Street USA program Friday night.
Activities begin at 6:30 p.m. at Trident Technical College's Student Center, where ice cream sundaes will be served. Next, enjoy entertainment by the Charleston Barbershop Chorus, beginning at 7 p.m. and the River City Jazz Band at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Trident Technical College's Main Campus is at 7000 Rivers Ave., North Charleston.
Beaufort Water Festival
The 53rd annual Beaufort Water Festival continues this weekend with boating, crafts, golf and bocce tournaments, music, food and more going through Sunday. Many of the events take place along Beaufort's scenic Waterfront Park.
Today's events include an antique show and sale from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., the croquet tournament finals and a Lowcountry supper from 6-11 p.m., featuring music by The Whistlers, Chris Jones and Too Much Sylvia.
Along with a bed race, Friday will feature a river dance 8 p.m.-midnight at Waterfront Park with music by The Breakfast Club and the M&M Band. This event is open to participants ages 18 and up.
Saturday plays host to a bevy of activities, including the Water Festival Grand Parade, an art expo, an air show and the Commodore's Ball 8 p.m.-midnight at Waterfront Park.
Wrap up the festival noon-2 p.m. Sunday, with the Blessing of the Fleet and Parade of Ships, a community non-profit expo and the finale air show.
Some more of the festival's events will include an ongoing crafts market, as well as an estuarium, tours of Coast Guard cutters and a shrimp boat display.
